Since the Chinese economic reform in 1978, China has become the second largest economic in the world. Which had been done by Britain and America through hundreds of years but several decades by China, to realize the prediction of “catching up”. While, the problems presented by rapid development are increasing, such as “death from overwork”, which has been the focus of society. This article selected the group of production line staff in manufacturing industry as the objects of study overwork just under such context, and try to find the causes and forming mechanism of overwork from enterprise microcosmic angle, then put forward some suggestion for this problems, the main contents are as follows :The first chapter is about the research background, significance and methods. This chapter described the research background, and expounded the significance of the research, and introduced the research methods, route, content and innovation.The second chapter is about the reviews of all relevant literatures and the definition of terminologies. This chapter divided the relevant researches into three stages based on the time of publication and the “overwork death” case distribution, analysed the progress of each stage firstly, then summarized the regular pattern and shortage in the field of research, in addition, to define the concept of the terminologies will be used.The third chapter is about the analysis of overwork from the angle of economics. This chapter explained the economics meaning of “overwork”, then introduced the labor utility, based on the reference of previous research results, from the perspective of economics, lead the utility of job investment into the model which can analyse the process of “overwork” result, with the change of job investment, based on economic men pursuit of maximum utility.The fourth chapter is about the empirical research on “overwork” of the front-line employees. This chapter firstly cleared related theories, and then put forward a hypothesis that, in order to verify the assumption, carried out the empirical research, and deduced "overwork" formation mechanism. Empirical research is carried out through the sample survey, in ordor to collect first-hand data, the research distribute questionnaires in clothing, electronics and other products manufacturing industry. The content of questionnaire was divided into three parts, including the job involvement utility of manufacturing workers, “overwork” questionnaire and personal information questionnaire, the first part of the questionnaire is under the Maslow’s hierarchy of needs, extracted factors measurement utility from manufacturing staff work demands and resources, forming the indexed of the utility measurement system, the had been designed into the utility questionnaire; the second part of the questionnaire used was imported from Japan, it is “worker fatigue diagnosis scale” of their accumulation, designed for manufacturing workers “overwork” questionnaire; The third part was the personal information questionnaire, including seven dimensions, are gender, age, education, marriage, income, spending, working hours.The fifth chapter is about the conclusion and suggestions. This chapter is based on the analyses above, in order to put forward several constructive suggestions for avoiding overwork.The sixth chapter is about the areas to improve and expectation. This chapter mainly summarizes the areas to improve, getting a more comprehensive research on the topic, to highlight the ambitions for the future.
