Regional Innovation Capability In Sichuan Province And Its Impact On Economic Growth

Since the reform and opening up,China’s economy has been growing at a very fast speed,creating a miracle in the history of economic development.The high-speed economic growth in past was based on extensive development,relying on investment and resources.In particular,The most important is investment,that contributes to economic development.Since the reform and opening up,China has greatly promoted the rapid economic development by relying on low-cost labor input,large amount of government investment and potential natural resources input in various regions.But at the same time,it also exposed a series of problems,such as environmental pollution,large consumption of resources,poor quality of product and so on.Innovation has become a key of the comprehensive strength of a region.The stronger of innovation capability is,the more technological breakthroughs will achieve and the more economic value will create.Regional innovation ability can promote a region to strive for competitive advantage,create regional innovation system,improve the ability of regional scientific and technological innovation,and improve the competitiveness of regional economy in fundamentally.Sichuan province is located in the southwest region of China,in the upper reaches of the Yangtze river economic belt,is the main province of China’s southwest regional economic contribution.Since the reform and opening up,sichuan province has achieved remarkable economic development,achieved a breakthrough in GDP growth,and people’s living standards is improving.However,the economic growth of sichuan also mainly relies on resource consumption and low-cost labor input.In knowledge innovation,technological innovation and other aspects have a big gap with foreign or some economically developed coastal cities in China.Therefore,how to improve the regional innovation capacity of sichuan province,to make the economic development of sichuan province have a progress with advanced science and technology is a problem.In this paper,starting from the development present situation of regional innovation of sichuan province,there are three aspects with innovation input,innovation output and innovation environment to carry on the analysis,selection of 14 regional economic indicators,building regional innovation ability evaluation system in sichuan province,and adopt the method of factor analysis in 18 cities of sichuan province from2007 to 2016 to measure regional innovation capability,it will conclude that 18 cities as innovation ability ranks for 10 years in a row and made innovation space distribution.Then the score of innovation ability is taken as the influencing factor to study the impact of regional innovation ability on regional economic development in sichuan province.The empirical results show that there are great differences in the regional innovation ability among the prefecture-level cities in sichuan province.In 2016,chengdu,mianyang,deyang,yibin and nanchong ranked top in innovation ability.Suining,bazhong,guangyuan,yaan and ziyang are ranked low.From the development situation of each prefecture-level city from 2007 to 2016,it can be seen that each prefecture-level city has significantly improved in innovation output,innovation input,innovation environment and comprehensive innovation ability.Regional innovation ability has a significant positive effect on economic growth.Every one percentage increase in innovation ability can increase economic growth by 0.1659%.Finally,According to the conclusion of the research,this paper puts forward the corresponding countermeasures and Suggestions.
