All along, the "three rural issues" are important issues related to China's national economy and people's livelihood.Under the guidance of the Party's policies,China's "three rural issues" have been alleviated to a certain extent, but the fundamental problems that restrict the development of rural areas in China still exist, accompanied by the new phenomena and new problems. In this process, the livelihood and land use of farmers in different suburban areas showed significant regional differences. The 19th National Congress of the Communist Party of China proposed a strategy for rural revitalization, which calls for "industrial prosperity, ecological livability, rural civilization, effective governance and prosperity of life",and to issue a new plan for the "Three Rural Issues" in the Rural Revitalization Strategic Plan(2018-2022).Therefore,it is of great significance to study the diversification of livelihoods and land use of farmers in different suburban areas, for formulating rural development policies with regional characteristics, realizing the sustainable livelihoods and land use of farmers in different regions, and ultimately realizing rural revitalization.Starting from the peasant household level and regional concept, this paper establishes the analysis framework of farmers' livelihood diversification and land use,and studies the regional characteristics, influencing factors and the influence mechanism of livelihood diversification and land use of farmers by applying to social statistical methods and metrological models from two perspectives of different suburban areas and different types of farmers. The results show that(1)the livelihood diversification and land use of farmers in different suburban areas show regional characteristics.?there were differences in agricultural livelihood diversification index,non-agricultural livelihood diversification index, livelihood activity, livelihood diversification index and livelihood strategy of farmers in different suburban areas, among them, the suburban farmers had more diversified livelihood strategies, and the proportion of facultative type livelihood strategies in any suburban area was the highest, most of which were selected by non-agricultural-oriented concurrent households.;?the income diversification index of farmers close to urban built-up areas was relatively high;compared with the outer suburbs, the urban suburb and suburbs had better livelihood stability;?overall,in terms of the small-scale operation of farmland in urban suburb and outer suburbs, the intensity of agricultural land use was low,and the intensity of large-scale agricultural land use was high, while the intensity of agricultural land use in urban suburbs was at a medium level. With the deepening of non-agricultural degree of farmers, the intensity of farmland use had a tendency to decrease;?with the deepening of non-agricultural degree of farmers, with the deepening of non-agricultural level of farmers, the proportion of the farmland planted with grain crops was increasing.(2)The results of the impact analysis of farmers' livelihood diversification and land use.?the choice of livelihood activities of farmers and the choice of livelihood strategies are significantly affected by the endogenous endowment of farmers and the geographical resources environment, that is,not only significantly affected by the level of livelihood assets and villages, but also by the significant impact of different suburban areas;?in different suburbs, the endogenous resource endowment of farmers and the level of the villages will directly affect the land use situation or indirectly affect it through the choice of livelihood activities and diversified livelihoods;?farmers close to urban built-up areas tended to select both agricultural and non-agricultural livelihood strategies, select to plant cash crops and increase the intensity of farmland use,and were also more inclined to engage in non-agricultural livelihood activities;?farmers far from urban built-up areas tended to go outside to work, and the livelihoods of farmer households tended to be single or non-agricultural-oriented livelihoods,as a result, farmland use was less intensive, crops were single, and farmland transfer rate were relatively lower. Therefore, the development of regional development policies based on the rural revitalization strategic plan will help farmers form optimal livelihood strategies and rational land use?...
