The county spatial economic disparity is widespread during the process of China's economic development, especially in the western poor mountainous areas of the "old, ethnic, marginal and poor" edges. As one of 14 concentrated contiguous areas of extreme poverty in China,Tibetan areas around four provinces has stayed in a low economic level for a long time, along with the regional unbalanced development phenomenon.Discussing deeply and studying the county economic development difference in Tibetan areas around four provinces will not only help to solve the problems of long-term poverty and economic development, but also provide certain scientific reference value for other economic development of concentrated contiguous areas in China to some extent.Based on the relevant theories, this study analyzes the spatio-temporal evaluation and impact factors of the county economic development difference in the Tibetan areas around four provinces during 2005-2016 by using the Thiel index, exploratory spatial data analysis(ESDA),principal component analysis and geographically weighted regression analysis(GWR)methods. The main results and conclusions are surmarized as follows:[1]The county economic disparity of Tibetan areas around four provinces shows an inverted "U-shaped" trend during 2005-2016,indicating that the regional economic differences are narrowing.Difference in the area is the main factor of the county economy disparity, making a biggest contribution on the overall regional disparity. Moreover, the regional difference in the northern regions of Tibetan areas around four provinces is significantly greater than that in the central, eastern and southern regions.[2]The county economic disparity is characterized by the "point-line-surface" in the Tibetan areas around four provinces, presenting an unbalanced development situation. The counties with higher economic development level spread slowly to neighboring counties, while the lower economic development level counties show the enhanced spatial agglomeration and spread to northeast.[3]Except the primary industry, the secondary industry, per capita fiscal expenditure, per capita-savings,fixed asset investment and urbanization rate are favorable for the economic development in the Tibetan areas around four provinces, and the per capita fiscal expenditure has the biggest influence to the county economy.[4]The spatial disparity variations of the impact factors are quite different:the counties of Haixi region and Yushu region are mainly affected by per capita fiscal expenditure and per capita-savings;the counties of Haibei region,Hainan region,Huangnan region,Guoluo region and Gannan region are mainly influenced by the secondary industry;and the secondary industry and fixed asset investment have a greater impact on the counties of Ganzi region and Diqing region.
