With entering a new era, people have an increasingly strong desire for a better life. The imbalance development between urban and rural has resulted a relatively lower standard of living for rural residents. To improve the well-being of all people,we must focus on improving the well-being of rural residents and earnestly improve their life satisfaction. In view of this, this paper studies the influencing factors and intergenerational differences of rural residents' life satisfaction, and proposes corresponding countermeasures, which has a positive significance for the current rural development. This paper sorts out the research results of life satisfaction at home and abroad from four perspectives, including definition of life satisfaction, measurement, influencing factors and life satisfaction of rural residents.Based on this, the paper proposes a new research perspective and research method.By using the micro-data of China Family Panel Survey(CFPS)in 2016 and multiple ordered logistic regression, the paper analyzes the effects of 38 variables in seven categories on the life satisfaction of rural residents and their intergenerational differences, including personal basic characteristics, social security, health and behavior, subjective attitude, family economy, family relationships and social interaction, environmental factors.Further more,by calculating marginal contribution value, the paper quantify the contribution of influencing factors to life satisfaction. The results are as follows. The elderly are the most satisfied with life, followed by the young, and the middle-aged are the least satisfied. In general, the perception of individual social status is the most critical factor in the difference of rural residents' life satisfaction;love and marriage can significantly improve the subjective evaluation of young people's life;physical health is also important to improve the level of subjective well-being.The number of houses is the main economic factor to improve life satisfaction, and the elderly are most affected by the number of houses. From the perspective of environmental factors, public facilities, security and surrounding environment are the main factors affecting life satisfaction.Students among the young people are the most satisfied with their lives, and taking various measures to guide students' smooth integration into society is of positive significance to improve young people's subjective well-being.Elderly people's participation in agricultural labor can significantly reduce their satisfaction with life.Pension insurance has a significant positive impact on the life satisfaction of middle-aged people. Finally,in view of the above conclusions, this paper proposes some targeted suggestions to improve life satisfaction, such as reducing inequality and relative deprivation caused by social differences, solving the marital plight of older single young men and left-behind women, further improving the capacity of rural primary health service, ensuring the balanced supply of housing support services and the steady development of the estate market and so on.
