The Impact Of Relational Capital On Communication Behavior Of Project Manager:A Study Of Arab Projects Managers

Relational capital is an intangible asset,which is the value provided by the relationship with stakeholder management.Communication behavior is a vital aspect in all areas of life.In conveying ideas and expressing them carefully to someone else so that they can understand and reciprocate.This is because the value of long-term relationships is very important,the project manager needs to be more skilled,effective and friendly in the matter of communication behavior.The purpose of this study is to reveal the impact of relational capital on the communication behavior of the project managers.The research problem was identified bythoroughly reviewing the literature and the overall concept of relational capital and communication behavior.Based on the identified research gaps in previous research,the study aimed to achieve the following objectives:exploring the types of relationships with customers and the team and frequent use of communication channels,finding out the quality of relationship with customers and team member also,the influence of communication behavior of project managers in term of the communication channel.Design/methodology:The research followed the qualitative method in which 20 cases were selected and through prior appointment sand interviews were conducted.Interview questions were carefully designed and the interview was successfully conducted.The study results reveal that different values of relational capital exist for the communication channel.The study also proved that the project managers are trying to focus more accurately on building relationships to using more fruitful way of communicating with customers.For example,face-to-face communication is more effective than phone calls or any other means of communication.Value of the study:the study also reveals that apersonal relationship with customers and with the team members results in a higher frequency of using type of relationships that use informal communication channel.Project managers also emphasize that building relationships with the team members is influenced by effective communication behavior.The study concluded that the type of relationship determines the communication behavior of the project manager.Based on the results of the study,fruitful recommendations were proposed and most importantly the project manager should use active communication channel in different relationship.
