The Influence Of Industrial Structure Upgrading On The Urban-Rural Income Gap In East,Middle And West China

With the rapid development of economy,the level of income gap between urban and rural areas in China has gone through the development process of "narrowing-expanding-high stable",which is currently at a high level,generally fluctuating and rising.In three areas,The change process of urban-rural income gap in the three regions is basically the same as the whole,but the regional differences are prominent.The upgrading of industrial structure is an important effect variable of urban-rural income gap,and the two are closely linked.Through the summary of relevant literature,it is found that the research on the interaction between the optimization and upgrading of industrial structure and the urban-rural income gap is mostly carried out from the national level,while the research on the regional level is less.So this paper attempts to explore how the upgrading of industrial structure in the eastern,central and western regions affects the urban-rural income gap.It also makes a deeper explanation from the perspective of the upgrading and rationalization of industrial structure and the three major industries.Firstly,through the construction of relevant indicators,this paper quantitatively describes the upgrading of industrial structure and the current situation of urban-rural income gap in China,and makes comparative analysis in three regions.Secondly,from the micro and macro perspectives,this paper expounds the influence mechanism of the upgrading of industrial structure on the urban-rural income gap.Finally,this paper uses the provincial panel data of2000-2018 to empirically test the specific impact of industrial structure upgrading.The results show that from the overall results of the country,the upgrading of industrial structure will further expand the urban-rural income gap,while economic development,urbanization,foreign investment,human capital and technological development can effectively decrease the gap.From the perspective of the three regions,the specific results of industrial structure upgrading are relatively complex.The central region will play a role in decreasing the gap,while the eastern and western regions will play a role in widening the gap.From the two different dimensions of the upgrading process of industrial structure,its specific role is different,that is,the rationalization of industrial structure has the role of narrowing the gap.There are regional differences in the role of industrial structure upgrading,which has the role of narrowing the gap in the central region,and the role of widening the gap in the East and thewest,and the role of rationalization is stronger than that of upgrading.This conclusion provides support for reducing the urban-rural income gap by improving the rationalization level of industrial structure.At the same time,it also shows that the process of industrial structure upgrading has a complex impact on the urban-rural income gap.According to the results of the development of the three industries,the impact of the three industries on the urban-rural income gap has regional differences.The first industry effectively alleviated the urban-rural income gap in the central region,but increased the gap between the eastern and western regions.The second industry has the same effect in each region,which can significantly reduce the urban-rural income gap.The third industry can reduce the urban-rural income gap in the central region,but it will expand the gap between the western region,but not the eastern region.The analysis results of the three industries further explain the impact of industrial structure upgrading.Based on the above theoretical and empirical analysis results,this paper comprehensively considers the actual development basis and resource endowment of the region,and then puts forward several policy suggestions that can alleviate the urban-rural income gap from the national level and the three regional levels of the East,the middle and the west respectively.
