Manufacturing industry has been playing the role of mainstay industry throughout the development of society and economy of China.Specifically,it is the main driving force of economic rise, which has contributed a lot to the acceleration of China's modernization process. On the other hand, logistics industry,a new compound industry, provides intermediary service for the production process of manufacturing industry.Namely, logistics industry promotes the links between production and shortens the time of goods circulation, which is the key to enhance the core competitiveness of manufacturing industry. At the same time,Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei Region has attracted people's attention again since its coordinated development was proposed as a national economic strategy in 2014.More and more manufacturing enterprises have entered there. However, compared with the development level of manufacturing industry in some regions or provinces, the development gap still exists. Moreover, the development of manufacturing industry in the three places is also unbalanced. Therefore, this study aims to analyze the development status of manufacturing industry in Beijing-TianjinHebei Region, and then to explore the linkage development between manufacturing industry and logistics industry, especially the impact of logistics industry on manufacturing efficiency. It is of great significance to enhance the manufacturing efficiency even regional competitiveness, promoting the balanced development of this region. The thesis can be divided into several parts.First of all,to illustrate the mechanism of logistics industry's influence on manufacturing efficiency, the theoretical basis of the relationship between them is sorted out, including the theory of industrial division, transaction cost, core competitiveness and spillover effect. Then, from the perspectives of industrial scale, profitability and input level, this paper presents the development status of the two industries. To be specific, manufacturing industry is classified according to factor intensity.Through the comparison with Yangtze River Delta and Pearl River Delta, this study reveals problems in the development of manufacturing industry, and summarizes the characteristics of logistics industry development in Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei Region.Next, based on the grey correlation analysis, the author reveals correlation degree between the two industries in Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei Region.By employing DEA-Malmquist index method, this paper obtains its core variable, manufacturing efficiency. Moreover, the panel data is used for stepwise regression analysis to measures the influence of Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei logistics industry on manufacturing efficiency.Consequently, countermeasures and suggestions are given for improving manufacturing efficiency and coordinating economic development in Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei.The results of this study show that the correlation degree between manufacturing industry and logistics industry in Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei is greater than 0.6,which reflects the obvious correlation between them. The added value of logistics industry and investment in fixed assets have a greater impact on the manufacturing industry as a whole and on all types of manufacturing industries, while the average number of employees in manufacturing industry has a greater impact on the logistics industry. The number of logistics employees in Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei has hindered the improvement of manufacturing efficiency.Logistics business has a positive impact on manufacturing efficiency. While logistics business income has a positive impact on manufacturing industry as a whole and technology-intensive,and a negative impact on labor-intensive and capital-intensive.
