Abstract/Summary:
The main purpose of this research was to measure the level of job satisfaction of engineering graduates of Iranian universities in British Columbia. This research also investigated two null hypotheses as follows: (1) Gender makes no difference in the job satisfaction of engineering graduates of Iranian universities identified by Job Satisfaction Survey (Spector, 1994) in BC. (2) Having an additional degree from a North American School makes no difference in the job satisfaction of engineering graduates of Iranian universities identified by Job Satisfaction Survey (Spector, 1994) in BC.;A questionnaire consisting of the 36 questions of JSS and additional demographic questions were posted for 20 days on SurveyMonkey. A pilot study with three participants was conducted which showed that the survey was appropriate for the population of the study. Three alumni associations of FanniBC, PolytechnicBC, and SUTA Vancouver branch sent the invitation to the survey to their email recipients. 53 emails were obtained through referrals and the invitation to the survey was sent to those emails. In addition 15 hardcopies of the survey were distributed at a FanniBC meeting.;Excluding the responses from the pilot study, the researcher received 80 responses in total. The study considered 47 responses for the final analysis. The average JSS score was 150, and a t test was conducted for each null hypothesis. Based on the t test there was no evidence to reject any of the null hypotheses. The level of job satisfaction found in this study was higher than all of the JSS norms of different professions in the United States that were posted on Dr. Spector's website (Spector, 2008).
