Abstract/Summary:
Operational Research and the military have an historical connection. For many years OR professionals have carried out effective studies centred on military problems in Canada and other countries. The research carried out in this thesis was motivated by spare parts forecasting problems encountered by the Canadian Air Force when planning for operational deployments during wartime conditions.;An analytic method will be proposed which can be used to predict deployment spares based on flying rates, number of aircraft and first line MTBF. A simulation model is developed to test the robustness of the analytic model. Actual deployment data gathered from the CF Hornets stationed in Qatar during the gulf war is used to validate the model.
