A Chinese-korean Translation Study Of Culture-gapped Words In Lu Xun’s Call To Arms

With peace and development becoming the theme of the times,cultural soft power has become an important part of comprehensive national strength.Different from the previous emphasis on learning and absorbing foreign cultures,countries now pay more attention to the export of their own cultures.In the context of different languages and different cultures,translation,as the most effective way of intercultural communication is communication among different languages.Taking literary translation as an example,the external manifestation of translation is the conversion of linguistic symbols,while the core of translation is the internal cultural exchange in the conversion of symbols.The commonness of culture contributes to the translatability of translation,while the cultural difference is the main reason for the untranslatability of translation,and the culture-gapped words is one of the concrete manifestations of the untranslatability of translation.Culture-gapped words is a kind of symbol or semantic vacancy phenomenon which is reflected in the difference of cultural understanding due to the different values and ways of thinking of different nations.Simply put,cultural phenomena in one language are absent or half-absent in another language.Culture-gapped words carry the cultural information of a nation,contain rich national cultural characteristics,and are closely related to the history,culture and customs of the people who use the language.Culture-gapped words is an inevitable problem in translation,which brings obstacles to cultural communication between different languages.With the increasing importance of cultural exchange and the increasing importance of translation,the study of translation of culture-missing words has become more and more important.Especially for the Chinese nation,which has a long history of more than 5,000 years,it is very important to deal with the culture-gapped words in translation if we want to export Chinese traditional culture in its original taste or learn and absorb real foreign culture.Based on Lu Xun’s Call to Arms and teach insurance sales is higher in library,evaluation better two Korean translation as text data,mainly adopts the method of literature reading,the contrast of predecessors’ research,Chinese-Korean translation to Call to Arms culture-gapped words translation is studied,hoping to both China and South Korea,Korean culture-gapped words for translation scholars and translation theory provide research data.The first chapter is the introduction.This paper mainly expounds the purpose and significance of the research,the overview of culture-gapped words,research objects and research methods.The second chapter to the fifth chapter is the main body of the paper.The author compares the original text with the translation,finds out the culture-gapped words in the works,and divides them into four categories: material culture-gapped words,conceptual culture-gapped words,institutional culture-gapped words and behavioral culture-gapped words.Material culture refers to the culture contained in the material achievements created by people’s continuous progress in social history.Material culture-gapped words,there are our basic life needs of clothing,food,architecture,transportation,means of production,geography,agriculture,animal husbandry,animals and plants,geographical location,solar terms and other aspects of the words.Conceptual culture-gapped words are mainly include religious belief,art,literature,myths and legends,historical allusions,values,language and culture,etc.Institutional culture-gapped words are mainly some of the words that express various institutions in the society,such as family system,education system,political system,economic system,and penal system.The culture-gapped words of behavior culture mainly refer to the words related to customs and lifestyles formed under the influence of people’s values and ways of thinking.The last part is the conclusion,which summarizes the thesis.
