A Study Of Culture-loaded Words In Prescriptions In Rhyme From The Perspective Of Intercultural Communication

1 ObjectiveThe culture-loaded words contained in Traditional Chinese Medicine(hereinafter TCM) prescriptions in rhyme touch up various ideas of ancient philosophy and religion,astronomy,geography and local customs. Therefore this thesis attempts to probe into English translation of culture-loaded words in prescriptions in rhyme from the perspective of intercultural communication theory(hereinafter IC). The purpose of the study is to find the transmission and loss of the culture in translation of prescriptions in rhyme and then to explore the principles and methods of the translation of culture loaded words, which can provide some references for the translation of Chinese classics in the future.2 MethodsIn this thesis, the author obtains the relevant information required papers through collecting and reading o the relevant literatures, consulting Chinese medicine experts and other methods. On the basis of qualitative, comparative analysis and induction of the data, some translation methods are summed up.3 AchievementsThe achievements of the study are yielded as follows:1) On the base of the analysis to the impact of Traditional Chinese culture on the cultured loaded words in prescriptions in rhyme, some linguistic features are found.2) According to their linguistic features, the culture loaded words in TCM prescriptions in rhyme can be summarized as: ecological, material, philosophical, religious, mythic and historical allusion culture-loaded words.3) Some translation methods are put forward to translate the cultured loaded words in prescriptions in rhyme, directed by IC.4 ConclusionThe English translation of the culture loaded words in TCM prescriptions in rhymeis not only a process of language transformation, but also a process of intercultural communication. The quality of English translation has a direct impact on the spread and promotion of TCM culture. The author hopes that this thesis will offer some enlightenment to the study of English translation of TCM prescriptions in rhyme.
