| In the Book Science in Latin America,the author JUAN JOSé SALDA?A describes the development of science in Latin America and the areas where science and technology benefit,so that we can understand that the development of science in Latin America is closely related to the political,economic and social development of the region.Therefore,the translation of works related to the history of Latin American science and technology is of great significance to the understanding of Latin American culture and literature history.In the process of translation preparation,the translator browsed through various information channels to check the translation literature related to the development of Latin American science and technology,and found that the translation literature in this area is very limited.This translation report first introduces the background,purpose and significance of this report,then discusses the characteristics,target readers and translation process of the translation materials,and finally analyzes the problems encountered by the translator in the translation process,as well as the translation strategies and techniques applied.Under the guidance of functional equivalence theory,through the process of analyzing the original text,in terms of vocabulary,the translator uses the translation strategies like part of speech conversion and domestication;in terms of syntax translation,the translator uses different translation methods such as supplement,voice conversion,word order adjustment and reorganization;in terms of chapter forming,the translator mainly uses cohesion and coherence to faithfully reproduce the original text and objectively reflect the history facts to increase the readability of the translation.Through the adjustment of vocabulary,syntax and discourse above,the purpose of translation is achieved and is hoping to provide reference value for the researchers in Latin America. |
