| This paper investigates the similarities and differences between"Yiban(一般)"and"Tongchang(通常)"in semantic, syntactic and pragmatic aspects from synchronic and diachronic perspectives, and analyzes their respective evolution process and part of speech attribution. The paper is divided into four chapters. The specific chapter arrangement and main point of view are as follows:The first chapter is the introduction, which mainly expounds the background of the topic, the object of study, the reason and value of the topic, the research status, the key points, difficulties and methods of the research, which lays a theoretical foundation for the following investigation and analysis. The second chapter investigates the lexicalization of"Yiban(一般)"and"Tongchang(通常)"from the diachronic perspective. The first time"Yiban(一般)"was used as a quantitative phrase in the Tang Dynasty, and it was grammaticalized into words of different usages from the Tang and Five Dynasties to the Song Dynasty;Generally speaking, the formation of the word"Tongchang(通常)"is relatively late, which was formed by the lexicalization of coordinate phrases in the Ming Dynasty. The formation mechanism of the two words can be divided into six aspects:semantic generalization, subjectivity, syntactic position change, disyllabic, reanalysis and chunking psychology. In addition, this paper makes a detailed description of the diachronic changes of various usages of"Yiban(一般)",and makes a detailed analysis of the statistical results. It is found that the five different usages of"Yiban(一般)"have not been fully used in modern Chinese.Even if some usages remain, they have undergone certain changes in the diachronic development of their functions,This paper also makes an in-depth analysis of the reasons behind the evolution from three aspects:the economic principle of language, the competition of synonyms and the principle of clarity of word meaning. The third chapter is based on the synchronic level of investigation.First of all,the part of speech of the two words is judged, and the two words have the attributes of adjectives and adverbs.Based on this premise, this paper makes a comparative study of the two words from the semantic, syntactic, pragmatic and other synchronic levels, focusing on the analysis of the similarities and differences between the two words. It is found that the two words are the same in semantic size, regularity and event integrity, but different in collocation object, semantic tendency and applicable tense; In addition, when two words are used as attributives,"Yiban(一般)"can modify both concrete nouns and abstract nouns, while"Tongchang(通常)"can only modify abstract nouns;"Yiban(一般)"can be used as a complement and can be modified by degree adverbs such as"Tai(太)""Hen(很)"and"Feichang(非常)","Tongchang(通常)"can’t be used;"Tongchang(通常)"can be used as the object,"Yiban(一般)"can’t be used; From the perspective of pragmatics, there are also similarities and differences in the choice of sentence types, textual functions and applicable styles. It is found that the two words have the same textual functions."Yiban(一般)"is widely used in both written and spoken styles, but"Tongchang(通常)"is mostly used in written language. Finally, based on the diachronic study, this paper analyzes the reasons for the differences in the frequency of their use at the synchronic level. The fourth chapter is the conclusion, which gives a brief overview of the basic points of this paper, and points out that the paper needs to be further improved. |
