This study is based on the relevant academic literature and Literature Review at home and abroad,and takes primary school English teachers as the subject of study.It adopts the methods of job analysis,behavior event interview and questionnaire,a competency model for primary school English teachers is established and a self-rating questionnaire for primary school English teachers is developed based on the model.First of all,through the method of job analysis,to understand the requirements of primary school English teachers in their jobs,and to write a job description for primary school English teachers;Second,30 Primary School English teachers were interviewed about behavioral events,based on the results of interviews and questionnaires,a competency model of primary school English teachers is constructed.Based on the results of the first two steps,a prediction questionnaire was developed and a formal open-ended questionnaire was formed after the relevant statistical analysis,and through the statistical processing of primary school English teachers competency analysis of the overall level and differences,the final conclusions are as follows:(1)The competency model of primary school English teachers is highly multi-dimensional,which is manifested in the following six aspects: professional attitude,personal characteristics,professional accomplishment,team-working ability,problem-solving ability and achievement motivation.(2)There are some differences in the factors of primary school English teachers’ competence in the subjects’ sex,years of teaching and educational background.
