| Translation Studies,as a new discipline,has received increasing attention and has involved many fields.The research of Translation Studies should not only consolidate the fundamentals,but also be bold in innovation.Any translation activity needs the participation of various translation roles.The interpreter and translator are crucial to the translation task.In order to judge the translation quality,it is important for us to think highly of the translation test and assessment,which will contribute to the improvement of translation quality,the smooth implementation of translation projects and the improvement of translators‘professional quality.The translator participated in the translation of the book Testing and Assessment in Translation and Interpreting Studies.Firstly,it discusses the development of assessment instruments under the theoretical application.Then,it talks about the development of assessment instruments from empirical approaches.The lessons have learned from the Case Study which is described in the last part of the original book.The translator took chapter III and XI as translation tasks.They are The perks of norm-referenced translation evaluation and Assessing ASL-English interpreters.The former is about translation assessment,which is written by June Eyckmans,Philippe Anckaert and Winibert Segers,the latter is Assessing ASL-English interpreters,which is Debra Russell and Karen Malcolm‘s achievement.The translator selected the Skopos theory as the theoretical guide in this report.The translator adopted zero translation,reference,annotation and lexical shift based on the rule of the skopos and uses semantic and syntactic shift based on the coherence rule,as well as omission,amplification,combination and division based on the fidelity rule.Under the guidance of this theory,the translator made the glossary by analyzing the relevant parallel texts.And on the basis of drawing on lessons from others‘ translation,the translation techniques of academic texts were explored.Besides,there was accompanied by quality control during translation.Therefore,the tasks were successfully completed.The translation task is not beneficial to expand the field of translation testing and evaluation in China,but provide some experience for correlational studies.In terms of content,the purpose of learning international translation testing and assessment is not only to follow western scholars‘ research,but to seek new research areas and strengthen the influence of Chinese translation studies,keeping pace with the world.From the practical view,this report improved the translator‘s academic translation ability.Transliteration helps to convey foreign knowledge and culture.Sentence adjustment makes the translation of complex sentences more in line with the target language expression.It also gave reference for other field translation practice. |
