A Study Of Consecutive Interpreting From The Perspective Of Schema Theory

In recent years,with the frequent exchanges between countries,the significant improvement of comprehensive national strength,China plays an increasingly important role in the international community.Every year,many international events are held in China,and more and more bilateral or multilateral trade fairs are held locally.Therefore,there is an increasing demand for interpreters in China,and the quality of interpretation is also required to be higher and higher.Schema theory is an important theory in the study of English interpretation,and it plays an important role in the study of interpretation.Under the guidance of schema theory,this thesis takes Li Keqiang’s Press Conferences Interpreting in 2017-2020 as examples to analyze and verify the role of linguistic schema,content schema,structure schema and cultural schema in the interpretation process,and studies the role of the three stages in the C-E consecutive interpreting.This thesis is about schema theory and its main schema patterns,and also describes the relevant situation of consecutive interpreting,especially verifies the practical role in listening,memorization and expression,so that the readers can understand the significance of schema theory for conference consecutive interpreting,and has practical value and significance for improving the quality of interpretation and reducing the pressure on interpretation.By using the method of case analysis,this thesis studies the schema theory and analyzes the consecutive interpretation texts of Premier Li Keqiang’s "two sessions" from 2017 to 2020.It finds that: firstly,schema theory is feasible in the interpretation of Li Keqiang’s press conference.Schema theory,as an important concept in cognitive psychology,has been paid more and more attention in the field of interpretation.Secondly,under the macro guidance of schema theory,this thesis studies the role of the three stages in C-E Consecutive Interpretation,and points out that in daily interpreting training,interpreters should be clear about their schema awareness,actively construct and activate their relevant schemata,so as to improve their interpreting ability.Thirdly,this thesis analyzes the three processes of consecutive interpretation through the combination of theory and practice,aiming to inspire interpreters to improve their interpretation level.This thesis finds that schema theory is of guiding significance for consecutive interpreting.This thesis provides a reference for the related research and practice,hoping to be helpful for the future research of consecutive interpretation.
