| With the rapid development of the world economy and science and technology,the world urgently needs high-quality education.Nowadays,under the new circumstances,translating educational texts is considered as a communication channel between China and the West.This translation report on Under Our Roof can be regarded as a bridge between translation theory and practice to analyze educational text translation and provide different translation perspectives.The source text,Under Our Roof,is an American book on family education.It has the stylistic variation of ordinary English in the context of education and literature.Educational works are information-based texts,whose purpose is mainly to express information.They are characterized by formal structure,clear organization,standardized writing,objective description and accurate content.However,as a family educational text,the source text also has characteristics of operative text.From the perspective of Skopos theory,this paper mainly studies the translation of Under Our Roof from lexical,syntactic and textual levels.Mixing an explicit translation purpose with the content of the target text,the translator selects some translation methods such as literal translation,free translation,repetition,omission,addition and voice conversion and so on.Based on the translation practice,the translator concludes that in order to make good translation,a translator should first think about the translation purpose,fully understand its cultural background,and adopt proper translation theory and various translation methods.This report provides high quality educational translation and different perspectives for other translation. |
