This report of simulated consecutive interpreting is based on the interview My Bronze Age.The program takes the real experience of the interviewees as a clue,and discusses the law,society and life.Interview has the general characteristics of colloquial factor,fast speech speed and switching of dialogue subjects.The interview also has the special characteristics of interspersed narration,legal terms,online hot words,philosophical vocabulary and allusions of classics.In view of the difficulty of consecutive interpreting,the interpreting strategies are discussed.Based on the interpretive theory and the triangular model hypothesis,the interpreter explores the three steps of interpreting: understanding,deverbalization and re-expression.According to the characteristics and difficulties of the interview,this report discusses the three basic abilities of interpreting: back translation,retelling,short-term memory and language expression;at the same time,it focuses on the successful cases of deverbalization,and summarizes the interpreting skills of free translation,omission,complement and amplification,and lexical conversion.In addition,this material has strong literariness and many philosophical sentences,which leads to the audience’ s discussion on legal value and philosophy of life.In order to achieve the interpreting effect as much as possible,the interpreter selects typical cases for consecutive interpreting.This report has trained the interpreter’ s own listening,speaking and interpreting abilities,as well as the interpreter’ s short-term memory,quick response,oral expression and logical thinking abilities.The purpose of this report is to provide reference for translating similar materials,show the Chinese way of thinking,express the thinking caused by Chinese context in English as much as possible,and make a modest contribution to cultural exchange.
