Reading is an important part of teaching Chinese as a foreign language.During the internship of working in an IBPYP school in Shanghai,I found that the school’s non-native-speaking students have problems in reading.In response to this problem,the "Reading a Book Together" project was opened in the non-native language class for the first time.I investigated the design,implementation and evaluation of the projects,hoping to provide reference and inspiration for the teaching of reading in Chinese as a second language.The research content of this paper consists of the following four parts:First,the design of the survey project.Based on the background analysis and demand analysis of the school,the overall design of the research project,including teaching purposes,design ideas,bibliographic selection and curriculum arrangements.Second,the implementation of the survey project.The teaching content,teaching process,and teaching methods of the non-native language class and the native language class were investigated respectively,and at the end of each section,the teaching experience that the non-native language class could learn from the native language class was summarized.Third,evaluate the project.Feedback data from students,classroom teachers,and program managers were collected and analyzed,including student grades,student feedback,and reflections from classroom teachers and managers.Fourth,summarize and make recommendations.According to the results of investigation and evaluation,the advantages and deficiencies of the project are analyzed,and some reference opinions are put forward for non-native language reading teaching from teaching preparation,teaching implementation and teaching evaluation.
