Analysis Of China’s National Interest In The South China Sea

China’ s South China Sea interest is an important part of China’ s national interest.China formulates and implements the South China Sea strategy,relevant foreign policies,and an important basis for judging marine rights protection actions.It is also an important basis for China to formulate and implement the South China Sea strategy,related foreign policies,and marine rights protection actions.Interpretation South China Sea interest from the perspective of connotation and definition can be divided into static and dynamic levels.At a static level,it can be interpreted according to the content as: sovereignty interest,security interest,economic interest,environmental interest,resource interest and diplomatic interest,etc.At a dynamic level,it can be understood as: China’s South China Sea interest and national interest,surrounding strategic relations,national development and rise in different periods of the South China Sea strategic interest of different priorities,different strengths,different trends of policy fine-tuning and related strategic trade-offs.The expression of South China Sea interest can be summarized into two levels: government(official)and private.Among them,the official official expression began in the early 20 th century and experienced the establishment of New China.It has expressed China’s South China Sea interest claims five times in a row.Summarizing these propositions mainly includes:sovereignty interest,military security interest,waterway security interest,fisheries and oil and gas resources development interest,and ensuring peace and stability around the South China Sea.Among them,the Chinese government expressed that the interest of the South China Sea focused on territorial sovereignty and related sovereign rights,military and strategic security related rights,and economic interest.Chinese people’s cognition of the South China Sea’s interest was generally formed in the 1930 s.After the founding of New China and China’s accession to the United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea,it has matured and focused on political,economic and strategic security.The interpretation and expression of several categories of South China Sea interest by Chinese officials and folks,the core content of the interest that have remained unchanged in the historical process of forming these interest recognition has laid the foundation for the contemporary South China Sea interest.In this basic framework of interest recognition and expression,the South China Sea sovereignty interest,military security interest,and resource development interest are the three major foundations.Among the three basic interest,sovereigntyis the core and the basis for the legitimacy of all words and deeds of China ’s South China Sea rights protection claims and actions;military security interest are a prerequisite;the benefits of resource development are fundamental,ignoring the role of marine resources in China’s development and rise,and the role of cooperative resource development in consolidating and improving China’s relations with neighboring countries.China’s South China Sea interest will lose its strategic direction.The current South China Sea interest system is a national interest system in which the three major interest mentioned above are complementary,mutually supportive,and cross-extension.This interest unit is subordinate to the overall interest of national strategic rise and is an indispensable component of the national interest macro system.
