As the new curriculum reform is underway,classic reading is receiving more attentions as it is included in teaching and other activities in both primary and secondary education.Reading classics will enable students to acquire knowledge and language skills,but more importantly will help students better understand Chinese,cultivate good manners and positive values.Nonetheless,the reading of classics in junior middle school is still in the initial exploration stage,so there are many problems in practical teaching.This thesis will work on the research with six junior middle schools in Anshan and Liaoyang through literature research and investigation.This thesis is divided into three parts.The introduction part contains topic basis,literature review,research method,significance and core concept.The first part introduces the design of questionnaire and interview outline from the perspective of survey purpose,object,content and method.Conclusion is made based on the specific analysis of the questionnaire and interview.The second chapter focuses on unsettled problems respectively: lack of thorough understanding of teaching classic reading,obscure teaching goals,limited teaching contents and random selection of teaching contents,lack of guidance and logic in teaching method,lack of multiple and scientific evaluation system for classic reading and lack of guarantee on time devoted to classic reading.According to the analysis,all of those listed problems result from: lack of understanding of the classics and teaching skills,great impact of exam-oriented education,lack of understanding of the curriculum standard,substantial importance attached to classic reading.The third chapter,which is also the key one,is mainly about practical solutions based on what have been discussed in Chapter 1 and Chapter 2 They are: enhancing teachers’ overall capacity and teaching skills,make clear their teaching goals,choose and write carefully their teaching contents,enrich their teaching methods,build diversified evaluation system and ensure there is enough time for classic reading.Based on the analysis of the studies conducted by the front line teachers and scholars,this thesis will be concentrating on analyzing the current situation of teaching of classic reading in four junior middle schools in Anshan and Liaoyang,in a bid that practical strategies will be concluded,provide theoretical support and practical ideas for teachers toteach classic reading and further promoting the development of classic reading in an orderly,effective and active manner.
