The mentally retarded class refers to the class specially set up for the mentally retarded children in the stage of compulsory education.However,with the development of integrated education in China,the main source of students in the mentally retarded class is changing from mild mentally retarded children to children with moderate to severe mental retardation,autism,cerebral palsy and multiple disabilities.There is a general lack of sexual knowledge among the mentally retarded students,and picture books are highly praised by many people as a medium of sexual knowledge transmission.However,there is a lack of research on the methods,media,organizational forms and teaching strategies of picture book teaching of sexual knowledge in mentally retarded classes.Therefore,this study based on picture books to carry out the teaching of sexual knowledge in the mentally retarded class,to explore the teaching methods,media,organizational forms and teaching strategies suitable for the use in the mentally retarded class,and make a certain comparison,put forward the corresponding suggestions,and provide some reference for special schools and special education practitioners.Two methods were used in this study.1 、 Literature review.Through combing the relevant literature,we established the research direction,selected the picture books of sexual knowledge and self-made picture books and activities used in this study,and established the three sex education themes of this study.This study adopts a different way of theme division from previous studies.Instead of one theme corresponding to one round of action research,the three themes are integrated and reflected in each round of action research.2、 Action research method.This study selected class 5,grade 5 of special education school in Z city to carry out four rounds of action research,which took eight weeks,a total of 32 classes.The observation method is used to record these lessons in detail.There are 8 students in this class,two women and six men.It includes students with mental retardation,autism,Down’s syndrome,cerebral palsy and multiple disorders.The four rounds of action research in this study correspond to different teaching methods or media.Each round of research cycle is 2weeks,and each week’s research methods or teaching media will be updated iteratively.The four rounds of action research are mainly teaching method,hands-on operation,interactive courseware and self-made picture book.The 32 lessons in this study are equivalent to a small cycle of action research,and follow the action research paradigm of "plan action reflection improvement re plan re reflection".The four rounds of action research not only have the relationship of mutual contrast,but also have the relationship of improving the latter based on the experience of the former.This study mainly adopts the action research method,selects the fifth grade and fifth class of the special education school in Z city to carry out four rounds of action research,which takes two months,a total of 32 classes.There are 8 students in this class,two women and six men.They include mental retardation,autism,Down’s syndrome,cerebral palsy and multiple disorders.The four rounds of action research in this study correspond to different teaching methods or media.Each round of research has two weeks,and each week is the subdivision type of the method or media.The four rounds of action research are mainly teaching method,hands-on operation,interactive courseware and self-made picture book.The32 lessons in this study are similar to the small cycle of action research,and follow the action research paradigm of plan action reflection improvement re plan re reflection.The four rounds of action research not only have the relationship of mutual contrast,but also have the relationship of improving the latter based on the experience of the former.After literature review and four rounds of action research,this study has achieved certain research results.According to the picture book teaching of sexual knowledge in the mentally retarded class,this paper puts forward seven strategies for choosing picture books.It provides a new scheme for the subject division and teaching of sexual knowledge.Through the analysis of the effect of several teaching methods and media used in the teaching of sexual knowledge in the mentally retarded class,it is found that the classroom teaching with the theme of "boys and girls",self-made electronic picture books and interactive electronic courseware is the most effective.In terms of teaching organization form,this paper summarizes the form of "teachers are the masters,students are not idle",and expounds it.At last,seven strategies of picture book teaching are put forward,and some suggestions are put forward for special education schools and teachers.
