Vocational education,as the entry point for Zou Taofen to engage in press and publishing,has become one of the important links in the development of Zou Taofen’s thoughts.Exploring Zou Taofen’s translation and communication of vocational education thought not only helps to understand the special characteristics and historical value of Zou Taofen’s vocational education thought,but also helps to enrich the systematic research of Zou Taofen’s overall thought.This article adopts the method of text analysis to study the translation and introduction of Zou Taofen’s vocational education works and its educational magazines and the media communication activities of Life Weekly,and then analyze the historical value of Zou Taofen’s vocational education view and its media practice.This article first studies the historical context and personal characteristics of the formation of Zou Taofen’s vocational education view,and explores Zou Taofen’s vocational education ideas and their practical characteristics from two aspects of translation and media communication,and then examines Zou Taofen’s vocational education ideas and practical characteristics from both synchronic and diachronic dimensions.The evolution of Zou Taofen’s concept of vocational education and the innovation of its practice ultimately dig deep into the historical value of Zou Taofen’s concept of vocational education and its media practice.The research found that Zou Taofen’s translation of vocational education promoted the localization of vocational education,and the communication of vocational education thought has undergone a transformation from professionalism to popularization and publicity.The practice method and modern orientation of media communication are the unique features of Zou Taofen’s vocational education view and practice.Specifically,under the influence of special historical background and personal experience,Zou Taofen began to engage in translation and communication of vocational education.In terms of translation activities,Taofen Zou gave a detailed explanation of the basic principles and implementation methods of vocational education and vocational guidance.While providing China with a reference model for vocational education,it also promoted the process of localization and scientification of vocational education.In terms of the way of communication,Zou Taofen’s articles published in educational magazines showed a clear academic rationality and professionalism,but it also affected the communication of vocational education thought among ordinary people.After taking over the Life Weekly,Zou Taofen used an independent and open platform to set up issues related to the public interest and made rational remarks,and integrated key issues in vocational education into readers’ daily life in a popular,interesting and silent way.In this process,the vocational education media practice has made a leap from professionalism to popularization and publicity.In contrast,Zou Taofen’s vocational education view and its media practice are unique and innovative.As far as the synchronic dimension is concerned,Zou Taofen used newspapers and periodicals as a platform,pen-style as a weapon,and social reality as a foothold,promptly and effectively commented and guided the occupational and educational issues at the time,and commented on these issues.The topic has an equal and free exchange with people,which is the biggest feature that distinguishes him from other educators of the same time.In terms of diachronic dimensions,Zou Taofen’s view of vocational education and its media practice show a strong consciousness of localizing Western vocational education theories and an individual consciousness of basing themselves on the society and focusing on the realization of personal values.These reflect Zou Taofen’s strong modernization orientation,which is different from other intellectuals in history.Zou Taofen’s vocational education view and its media practice are the interweaving of multiple relationships between the individual and society,China and the West,tradition and modernity,and its historical value is also concentrated in the grasp and balance of these relationships: While paying full attention to individual liberation,he was also committed to the unity of people’s personal and social values;while inheriting the traditional sense of social responsibility and emphasizing ethics and morality,he also absorbed the sense of rights and the spirit of equality in Western thought.More importantly,Zou Taofen realized the combination of mass media and vocational education,promoted the popularization of vocational education thought,and promoted the deep integration of vocational education thought with people’s real life.Zou Taofen’s view of vocational education uses the mass media as a means of communication,takes China’s social reality as its standpoint,takes the general interests of the people as its goal,and takes modernization as the direction of progress.It is an important part of his ideological system.
