The sense of meaning of life refers to the individual’s perception of the value and purpose of life existence.The sense of meaning of life can positively predict the individual’s mental health.The lack of meaning of life will have a significant impact on the individual’s physical and mental health,such as empties,depression and even psychological diseases.Junior high school students are in adolescence,which is an important period for the information and development of their sense of life meaning.Research has shown important role in the interpersonal to meaning of life,the individual with good interpersonal relationship also has the high sense of life meaning.Therefore,this stage is a vital stage for the formation and development of interpersonal relationship and the meaning of life are of great significance for strengthening the mental health education of junior high school students.This study is divided into two parts.The study 1 measures 828 students from 18 classes in two rural middle schools with the Interpersonal Relationship comprehensive diagnostic Scale and the Meaning in Life Questionnaire,so as to understand the current situation of interpersonal relationship and meaning of life of junior high school students in rural schools.In study 2,a quasi-experimental pre-and post-test design was used.Two parallel classes were randomly selected and divided into the intervention group and the control group according to the results of the study 1.After the unified pretest,the intervention group was given 8 times group counseling activities which the theme is of interpersonal relationship,while the control group was given no intervention measures.Unified posttest was conducted after the completion of group counseling activities to test the intervention effect of group counseling.The results are as follows:(1)The interpersonal disturbances of rural junior high school students have no differences with gender and grade,there are significant differences in the aspects of academic performance,family economic situation and parental rearing style(p<0.05 or p<0.01);(2)The meaning in life of rural junior high school students is no different with family economic situation,but there are significant differences with gender,grade,academic performance and parental rearing style(p<0.05 or p<0.01);(3)There is significant correlation between the interpersonal disturbances and the meaning in life of rural junior high school students,and interpersonal disturbance negatively predicts the sense of meaning of life(p<0.01);(4)The interpersonal disturbances of rural junior high school students has negative prediction on the meaning in life(p<0.01).Conclusions:(1)There is significant correlation between the interpersonal relationship and life meaning of rural junior high school students;(2)The level of interpersonal relationship of rural junior high school students has an important impact on the meaning of life;(3)The interpersonal relationship group counseling activities program can effectively reduce interpersonal relationship disturbance and improve the sense of life meaning of rural junior high school students.
