The meaning of life meaning means that the individual feels the meaning and value of his life,and realizes that life has clear goals and missions.Adolescence is the key period for the formation of individual personality traits and the development of faith and will.Individuals are very susceptible to various adverse emotions and problems during this period,which affects their physical and mental health development.Among them,the lower sense of life meaning experience seriously affects the young people’s ability to sense the meaning of life and the ability to set life goals,which greatly reduces their quality of life.Therefore,how to improve the meaning of life of junior high school students in a targeted way is of great significance for them to form a good outlook on life,values and improve their quality of life.This study first used the Life Meaning Scale compiled by steger to investigate the status quo of life sense among 600 students in two ordinary junior high schools in Chongqing.Second,this study explores the relationship between sense of life meaning,self-identity,and self-esteem.Finally,a group counseling plan was developed to improve the meaning of junior high school students’ life.Based on the survey results,two classes in the first grade of junior high school(35 in each class)were randomly selected as the experimental group and control Group,the experimental group received group counseling for 8 weeks,the control group did not perform any intervention,and the effectiveness of the experimental intervention was verified by analyzing the data of the two groups of members.The results of this study are as follows:(1)There is no significant difference between junior high school students’ sense of life meaning and the norm,and it is slightly lower than the norm.(2)Significant gaps in sense of life among junior high school students in different grades.Junior high school students who have served as a class cadre have significantly higher total life sense scores and various dimensions than junior high school students who have not served as a class cadre.(3)There is no significant difference in the meaning of life of junior high school students in terms of gender,region and whether they are only children.(4)There is a significant positive correlation between the meaning of life of junior high school students and self-identity and self-esteem.Self-identification and self-esteem have a positive predictive effect on the meaning of life.Self-identity plays a partial mediating role between self-esteem and the meaning of life.(5)The life meaning group counseling program has a positive role in improving the meaning of life of junior high school students.
