Education is the foundation of a nation and the basic of a powerful nation.The2021 government work report emphasizes "taking greater steps in education equity." Reform and opening up till now,as China has boomed, all sectors of society attach importance to education injustice. The fair development of education is reflected to a certain extent by the intergenerational transmission of education.Exploring the current situation of intergenerational transmission of Chinese education and analyzing the influence of the intergenerational transmission of academic qualifications, which has realistic significance for balancing educational development of China and improving the overall education level of Chinese residents. In order to study the intergenerational transmission of academic qualifications in our country, this research puts forward three questions.Question 1: What is the president situation of Chinese residents’ education level? Question 2: What can be gained about the characteristics of the intergenerational transmission of residents’ academic education ? Do the differences exist between regions, urban and rural areas, gender, and different age groups? Question 3: What are the factors that affect the intergenerational transmission of residents’ academic education and what are the differences between regions, urban and rural areas, gender, and different ages? The research starts to explore the conclusion according to the China Family Panel Studies(CFPS)micro data. For question 1: Descriptive statistics are used to analyze the status quo of academic education level of residents from five aspects as a whole, regions, urban and rural areas, gender, and different age groups. For question 2: Using univariate and bivariate linear regression,Mare entering school model, and conversion matrix, the overall situation of the intergenerational transmission of academic qualifications and the dynamic analysis of the differences among regions, urban and rural areas, genders, and different age groups are carried out.For question3:Use the multiple linear regression model and the ordered Logit model to analyze the influencing factors of the intergenerational transmission of academic qualifications and compare the regression results of different sub-samples;Then use path analysis to explore how the parent’s academic education level indirectly affects the children’s academic education level through other related factors. The following are the main research conclusions:(1)The educational level of the children is significantly higher than that of their parents, and the father’s educational level is higher than mother’s;the intergenerational transfer of education between parents and children is a little strong, and that between mother and children is stronger; There are some significant factors that have influence on inter-personal transmission, such as parents’ educational level, year of birth,12-year-old residence,gender,12-year-old household registration, urban and rural residence, parents’ political outlook, number of siblings, and family income per capita.(2)Educational imbalances exist between the eastern, central and western regions and within the western regions: the eastern region’s educational level is higher than that in the central and western region;the intergenerational transmission of education in the west is stronger than that in the eastern and central region; In the west, the intergenerational transmission of high-degree and low-degree education is stronger;gender, urban and rural areas have more significant influence on the educational intergenerational transmission.(3)There are obvious differences of educational level and intergenerational transmission between urban and rural areas, between genders: The educational level of urban and non-agricultural residents is higher than that of rural residents and agricultural residents;the intergenerational transmission of education between parents and children of agricultural residents is stronger than that of non-farmer residents. The educational level of men is higher than that of women.Parents have a greater positive influence on their sons’ education.Men with agricultural hukou are more likely to have higher educational qualifications than women.Women with non-agricultural hukou and urban residence have more probability to increase their educational level than those with agricultural hukou and rural residence.(4)With the progress of the times, the educational level of Chinese residents is improving, and gender differences are gradually decreasing and tending to be equal;Although urban-rural differences and inter-regional differences have decreased, there are still large differences, that is,between regions, urban and rural areas, the problem of uneven education still exists. At the end of this study, based on the problems reflected in the conclusion, countermeasures and suggestions are put forward from the perspective of promoting education equity.
