Physical education is an important part of college education.Basketball,as one of the most beloved and fashionable sports in college physical education,is deeply loved by college students and physical education teachers,but the basketball class led by the traditional teaching method can not fully meet the physical and mental needs of students.Therefore,the application of competition teaching method to college basketball physical education can solve the problems of traditional teaching method,such as rigid classroom content,waiting in line,wasting time,disturbing students’ exercise intensity in physical education class and so on.This paper studies the application of competition teaching method to college basketball class,analyzes the impact of competition teaching method on the sports intensity of college basketball class by using the means of heart rate monitoring,and scientifically evaluates the application value of heart rate monitoring method in the teaching process of competition teaching method of college basketball class.Therefore,on the basis of previous studies,this paper uses the literature review method to consult the relevant literature of competition teaching method,and summarizes the theoretical basis and experimental design of relevant research;Using the questionnaire adapted from the scale of College Students’ interest in physical education compiled by Gu Haiyong to measure college students’ interest in basketball;Use the shapex01 team heart rate meter to collect,sort out,analyze and compare the heart rate data of students in basketball physical education class,analyze the heart rate data of students in basketball class by using the method of real-time heart rate monitoring,and calculate the exercise intensity of physical education class under the intervention of competition teaching method.The research takes the undergraduates of class 1 and class 2 of2020 physical education of Liaoning Normal University as the experimental object,and is divided into two class randomly: the experimental class and control class,then started physical education for 11 weeks.The experimental class adopts the competition teaching method,while the control class adopts the traditional teaching method.During the teaching process of one semester,the heart rate data of the two classes in basketball class are collected,and the maximum heart rate,average heart rate MVPA,exercise index and other exercise intensity indexes are analyzed by spss21.0 software statistically,and the following results are obtained:1.The heart rate curve of the students in the experimental group is closer to the double peak type and gradually rising type.The peak period of heart rate appears in the middle and later period of class,and the peak period lasts for a long time,and the peak curve is smooth.2.The average heart rate of the experimental class was 126.50 beats / min,which was in the appropriate range,and compared with the control group there was significant difference(P< 0.05).3.There was significant difference in the distribution proportion of middle and high intensity exercise areas between the experimental class and the control class(P < 0.05),and the time proportion of middle and high intensity exercise areas exceeded 50%.4.The result of the experimental class exercise was higher than the result of control class,while it shows no significant difference in exercise result between the experimental class and the control class(P > 0.05),5.After the intervention of competition teaching method,the students that in the experimental class have significantly improved their basketball skills,while there shows significant difference between the three-step layup test results between fixed-point shooting and marching and the control class(P > 0.05).6.The scores of students’ basketball interest were improved after experiment.Even there was showed no significant difference(P > 0.05),the post-test scores of the experimental class students were higher than those of the control class.Conclusion:1.Competition teaching method is conducive to improving students’ average heart rate,medium and high-intensity exercise time and exercise index in class.The use of competition teaching method can effectively improve the exercise intensity of basketball physical education.2.The students that learning in the experimental class have more interest in basketball sports than students in the control class.The use of competition teaching method is more helpful to stimulate students’ sports enthusiasm and cultivate their interest in learning impressively.3.After the intervention of competition teaching method,the students in the experimental class master the skills of dribbling and shooting better than those in the control class.Using competition teaching method in class can improve the students’ basketball technical standard.
