The traditional physical education approach has struggled to suit college students’ increasingly diverse sports needs, especially with the rise of modern physical education and the outbreak of the COVID-19."online + offline" blended learning combines the group learning benefits of traditional classroom teaching with the individualization benefits of online learning, making it an ideal vehicle for the deep integration of information technology and education. It establishes higher standards for the creation of teaching resources, teaching design, and teaching management by teachers. This study uses "online + offline" blended learning to undertake instructional trials with students in Xianyang Vocational and Technical College’s cheerleading course.Using traditional teaching outcomes as a benchmark, this article compares the benefits of the blended teaching approach to the traditional teaching model using multi-level analysis. It provides substantial data for physical education teaching change in higher vocational colleges. This study uses the literature review method, interview method, questionnaire survey method, mathematical statistics method, experimental method, and other methods in its analysis and research to ensure the accuracy and scientificity of the research results. The regular performance, technical performance, theoretical performance, classroom satisfaction, and teaching effect of the "online + offline" blended learning of the cheerleading course at Xianyang Vocational and Technical College were all evaluated. The experiment chose 60 students from Xianyang Vocational and Technical College’s 2020 cheering course as the experimental subjects for a 12-week teaching trial. The experimental group uses "online + offline" blended learning, whereas the control group uses traditional instruction. Both groups are consistent in terms of teaching content, class hours, and progress. The results of the teaching experiment research are as follows:The experimental group performed better than the control group in this teaching experiment after being stimulated by the experiment. The experimental group had an average score of 86.10,whereas the control group received an average score of 82.90(P=0.013<0.05),indicating that the experimental group’s skill level was higher than that of the control group. There were significant differences in technical completion, team completion, arrangement, and overall effect(P<0.05)in the third set of campus cheerleading demonstration routines. The formation arrangement design had a P-value of 0.009,which was a very significant difference(P<0.01),indicating that the experimental group outperformed the control group. The experimental group received an average score of 90.90 in the theoretical evaluation, while the control group received an average score of 84.85(P<0.05).As a result, the experimental group’s theoretical score was higher than the control group’s.The results of the student satisfaction questionnaire were summarized and examined after the teaching experiment. The experimental group’s students were better than the control group in terms of learning interest, communication and cooperation, independent exercise, and contentment, according to the chart.Between the experimental and control groups, there were substantial differences.Based on the findings, the following conclusion can be drawn: In terms of technical level performance, theoretical performance, and overall performance of cheerleading, there are substantial variations between the experimental and control groups. The experimental group’s cheering performance is much better than the control group’s.The use of blended teaching in cheering classes at higher vocational schools can boost students’ enthusiasm in learning, grow their capacity to communicate and collaborate, and promote the habit of self-exercise after class, according to this study.
