Interest is the best teacher for young children.More and more scholars believe that early childhood should focus on their own interests to develop their physical and mental health.It is necessary to develop their movement skills with the premise of pleasure and love of learning,and to exercise children’s physical qualities in a targeted manner to achieve a balanced physical development of children.Therefore,the research combines mini-basketball with situational teaching method and creates the situational teaching content for mini-basketball according to the physical and mental development characteristics of 5-to 6-year-old children.The purpose of the research is to stimulate children’s interest in learning and to cultivate children’s awareness of life-long physical education.The research mainly used literature review,questionnaire survey,and expert interview methods,and selected 47 children aged 5to 6 years old from Lantian Baby Kindergarten in Xigang District,Dalian as experimental subjects.In this experiment,the subjects were divided into experimental and control groups.The experimental group adopted the situational teaching of mini-basketball and the control group adopted the routine teaching of mini-basketball.After 10 weeks of teaching intervention,the experimental group and the control group were tested for their interest in learning mini-basketball to verify the influence of different teaching methods on children’s interest in learning mini-basketball.Results of the study:(1)The 2-week pre-experiment demonstrated that children could successfully complete the teaching content of mini-basketball based on situational teaching method under the guidance of teachers.(2)After 10 weeks of experimental intervention,the inter-group comparison showed that there was a highly significant difference(p<0.01)in the level of participation,positive interest in learning score,the level of attention and the total interest in learning score,and a significant difference(p<0.05)in the negative interest in learning score between the two groups for mini-basketball.The results of the intra-group comparison showed that the scores of attention degree of mini-basketball in the experimental group showed significant difference(P< 0.05),and the scores of other items showed very significant difference(P< 0.01).There was only a significant difference in the score of negative learning interest in the control group(P< 0.05),but no significant difference in other items(P> 0.05).(3)After 10 weeks of mini-basketball teaching intervention,the physical fitness scores of the children in the experimental group were not lower than those in the control group.On the contrary,the scores of tennis throw,10-meter Out-and-Back,Sit-and-Reach,continuous jump on both feet,and walking on the balance beam in the experimental group were significantly higher than those in the control group(P< 0.05).Conclusion:(1)The situational teaching content of mini-basketball created according to the situational teaching method is feasible.(2)The situational teaching of mini-basketball can obviously promote the learning interest of children aged 5 to 6 years old,and the effect of improving the physical quality of children is better than that of the traditional teaching method of mini-basketball.Recommendations:(1)The author suggests that teaching activities related to mini-basketball in kindergarten should not only pay attention to the development of movement skills,but also cultivate children’s interest in learning mini-basketball,teach students in accordance with their aptitude and set up mini-basketball courses reasonably.(2)The author also recommends the reasonable use of the situational teaching method.For example,creating situational stories and carrying out situational teaching sessions can effectively attract children’s attention to mini-basketball.Doing so can also give timely and novel incentives to further stimulate children’s interest in learning mini-basketball,develop various physical qualities,and promote the healthy and all-round development of young children.
