When compile teaching textbooks,editors will choose an intermediate language,which will be used in the textbooks according to the users.Most editors of Chinese textbooks in China choose English as the intermediate language.The worldwide breadth of English tells the reason.Appropriate English interpretation of new words can effectively assist students in understandin,memorizing and using Chinese new words.This thesis is based on summarizing the previous researches on translation and annotation of Chinese new words in intermediate Chinese textbooks for second language learners.It also analyses Practical Chinese Textbook and Boya Chinese and Fazhan Chinese from its accuracy degree,teaching effectiveness,affections for students'second language acquisition and biased error.Comparative analysis,corpus analysis,synchronic and diachronic analysis are applied in new words interpretation of the three textbooks.Relevant principles and specific methods for solving these problems are thus put forward based on these analysis.This article is divided into five parts.Among them,the first part is an introduction,which introduces the reason,purpose and significance of the research,research status and the main research methods and the selected corpus sources.Chapter 1 lays foundation for this paper.It mainly discusses the importance of words teaching in Chinese teaching and also the importance of new words interpretation.Chapter 2 is an important part of this thesis.It mainly analyzes the problems in the interpretation of new words in the three textbooks,which are Developing Chinese,Boya Chinese and New Practical Chinese.Problems are organized,classified,and analyzed comparatively,and practical amendment suggestions are listed for the existing problems.Chapter 3 will provide effective as well as concrete principles and operating methods for the interpretation of new words in the Chinese textbooks for foreigners based on the previous two chapters.The last part will present the conclusion,summarize the full text,evaluate the research results generally and point out its deficiencies.The main focus of this paper is to classify and analyze the problems in the translation and interpretation of new words in the three textbooks.Due to different writing principles,the three textbooks show characteristic advantages and disadvantages in interpretation of new words.In general,Boya Chinese and Development Chinese each have their own flash points that are different from other textbooks.We should continue to learn and improve the accuracy and effectiveness in the process of writing Chinese textbooks in the future.It is our constant belief to provide high-quality teaching materials for Chinese teachers and Chinese learners.
