The Affirmative And Negative Forms Of The Verbs "can", "will" And "can"

The auxiliary verb is a very important category of modern Chinese,among which"Neng(?)"“Hui(?)""Keyi(??)”are high-frequency words in daily life.They possess similar meanings so that it is difficult to differentiate them and the students abroad are likely to make mistakes when using them.Therefore,this problem draws more and more attention in the academia.Nevertheless,most of the researches before focused on the analysis of the normal form,while the negative form,as well as the comparison between the normal form and the negative form,was less involved.Further more,there are some controversial problems need to be settled and omissions in error analysis.The preface of this thesis gave a summary to the researches before and pointed out the omissions.In the first and second chapter,we,on the basis of a large number of corpus,analyzed and compared the different semantic types and senses of“Neng(?)”"Hui(?)""Keyi(??)",as well as the normal forms and the negative forms,from the perspective of semantics?syntax and pragmatics.In the semantic aspect,we presented ideas about the controversial problems with enough reasons,sorted out the semantic types of and senses of "Neng(?)" "Hui(?)" "Keyi(??)" anew,differentiated them and generalized their semantic modal features on a deeper level.Afterwards we observed their combination with the negative markers " Bu(?)" and" Mei(?)".In the syntactic and pragmatic aspect,there is a comprehensive description of the combination of the normal forms and negative forms of "Neng(?)"" Hui(?)" Keyi(??)" and the aspects?situation features of the main verbs as well as the syntactic characteristics.The aspects included the perfective aspect?the durative aspect?the experiential aspect?the inchoative aspect?the continuous aspect and the tentative aspect.The syntactic characteristics included the collocations of "Neng(?)""Hui(?)" "Keyi(??)" and the adverb?the complements and the prepositional phrases.Then we briefly analyzed the pragmatic features of those three words.On this basis,chapter three inspected the errors made by students abroad,and summed up the types of the errors,focusing on the misusing errors and seeking the causes which included two points:First,“Neng(?)”“Hui(?)”“Keyi(??)”possess different semantic modal features;Second,the normal forms are not identical to the negative forms.After that,we gave relevant advice in teaching which teachers should pay attention:Firstly,the difference between the semantic modal features of "Neng(?)""Hui(?)" "Keyi(??)";Secondly,the asymmetry of the normal forms and the negative forms in semantics;Thirdly,teaching in the context and the emphasis on the pragmatic characteristics.
