With the deepening of cultural exchanges between China and the West,Chinese literary works have attracted more and more attention from the world.Mo Yan's literary achievements also represent the soft power of Chinese culture. It is significant for us to publicize and promote excellent Chinese literary works to the world.Interpreting,as an approach, plays an important role in cultural exchanges between China and the West. This report consists of four parts as followed, task description, process description, case study, and conclusion. In the first part, the background, content and purpose of the task were presented. The second part depicts the interpreting procedures including three steps, the preparation, the process and the analysis. The third part is case study which is the major part of this practice report. In this part, the main problems encountered by the author are as follows: frequently used Chinese no-subject sentences and Chinese culture-specific terms, and note-taking barriers. These problems make it more difficult to interpret the source language smoothly and appropriately. In this chapter, the author analyzes the problems that mentioned above and put forward some strategies, such as changing sentence patterns, adding subjects, literal translation, free translation, amplification, omission etc.The last chapter mainly points out the shortcomings in this interpretation practice.
