The source text of this English to Chinese translation is on the basis of the fourth and fifth chapters of The Craft of College Teaching: A Practical Guide published by Princeton University Press.This book is a practical guide for the college teachers to help them improve their students' abilities,and make their students not only achieve academic success but also gain meaningful,truthful,and long-lasting learning.The source text has the features of the informative and vocative text;and stylistically,the language is plain and simple.Based on these features and guided by Skopos theory,the report analyzed the extension of the nouns and verbs,the conversion the nominal structure in the context of pedagogy and the inversion of the attribute and adverbial according to the differences of thinking pattern.In the translation of anaphora,the report mainly adopted the methods of concretization and omission in the different contexts.The purpose of this report is to solve the common problems in English-Chinese translation of pedagogical book,and to provide reference for the translation of this kind of book.
