A Case-based Intervention Study On Grief Counseling For Middle-aged Urban Widows

With the process of urbanization,the number of urban widows is increasing year by year,and the number of urban middle-aged widows is also increasing.Through consulting the relevant literature,we know that there are relatively more researches on the widowed elderly group,involving their physical problems,psychological problems and life adaptation,but there are relatively less researches on the middle-aged widowed group,especially the middle-aged widowed women whose physical function and labor ability are gradually weakening.Since ancient times,most women have been engaged in unpaid housework in the family,and men have become the source of family income.Compared with rural women,urban middle-aged widowed women have higher education and stronger self-regulation ability,However,in the urban environment,they are at a disadvantage in the labor market.They are also faced with many difficulties,such as high cost of living in the city,hard to find jobs and unable to create income through cultivated land.As a result,they will fall into physiological,psychological and economic difficulties after their husband's death.How to make good use of their own advantages,family and social network support and national policies,so that they can adjust their mentality,not let grief affect their normal life,accept the fact of widowhood,and adapt to the life after widowhood.The author mainly adopts the methods of questionnaire survey,informal interview and participant observation.First,the questionnaire survey and data collection of 23 middle-aged women who have city registered residence in M community of Chengdu are conducted.After sorting out and analyzing,the author finds that their problems mainly exist in psychology,physiology,economy and interpersonal communication.Next,the author analyzes the results of SCL-90 self rating scale,and selects a widowed woman who needs grief counseling and is willing to accept the service of social workers as the research object.This research is mainly guided by social support theory and advantage perspective theory,and uses social work case method to intervene in practice.In a more comprehensive understanding of the service object's thoughts and difficulties,as well as the problems faced by life,the author in the whole service process to develop 5 stage goals,through 11 times of service to achieve all the service goals.Then,the qualitative and quantitative evaluation method is used to evaluate the service objectives,and the case can be successfully completed after the service objectives are completed.The author hopes that this study can make more people pay attention to the urban middle-aged widowed women and other marginal groups.Then we can establish a more scientific case study system of grief counseling for middle-aged widowed women to help more middle-aged widowed women successfully get rid of the plight of grief.Finally,it can promote social work to better serve the middle-aged widowed women,which will help to improve the practical experience of social work in the field of grief counseling for middle-aged widowed women.
