High school is the most essential and the most focused part of basic education.The professional development of high school teachers directly affects the quality of teachers and the teaching quality of high school.Although importance has been increasingly attached to the professional development of teachers,but in practical work,the professional development of teachers has been encountering various challenges,especially the professional development of young teachers has not been given enough attention that it deserves,and its development status is worrying.Therefore,it is of great necessity to penetrate into the present state of young teachers' professional development in senior high schools and put forward the improvement strategies.This study takes the high schools in Maoming City as an example.Through questionnaire and interview,it finds that the main problems arising from the process of the young teachers' professional development in the high schools in Maoming City are as follows: the professional development foundation is not solid enough;the professional knowledge is not abundant enough;the professional competence needs to be improved;the professional affection needs to be strengthened;the effect of professional training requires to be improved;training opportunities are rare;training methods are monotonous;training funds are not sufficient,etc.This paper investigates and analyzes the influencing factors of young teachers' professional development from three dimensions: individual,school and society,and finds out the major factors,secondary factors and tertiary factors that affect young teachers' professional development in senior high schools in Maoming City.Among them,from the perspective of individuals,the major affecting factors include salary,personal willpower;at the school level,the professional title evaluation and the work of the head teacher have the greatest impact;at the society level,the major affecting factor is the government's attention paid to education.In order to promote the professional growth of young teachers,young teachers should give full play to their subjective initiative of professional development,have a good personal career planning,cultivate strong willpower,overcome difficulties,form a good habit of reading and thinking frequently,and effectively improve the execution of professional development;schools should offer system guarantee as well as various incentive policies for the professional development of young teachers,establish scientific standard of workload distribution,ensure the diversity of teaching and research activities,and provide professional development training with strong pertinence and high effectiveness;the state and governments at all levels should greatly improve the salary and welfare of teachers,show more concern over education,and provide more incentive policies and system support for the professional development of young teachers.
