This paper analyzes and discusses the theoretical relationship between art and mathematics,the mathematics learning conditions of high school students with art specialty and its causes in China by literature review,theoretical study and practical research method.On this basis some viewpoints on how to change the current learning situation of these students are presented.The findings are as follows:1.Mathematics and arts are essentially interlinked,though two subjects are seemingly unrelated.They actually have a lot of internal connections.Mathematics has the aesthetic characteristics such as beauty of conciseness,beauty of symmetry,beauty of unity,beauty of oddness and so on.The sketch and perspective in the art shows the thought of mathematical geometry.It is a kind of reconstruction of the mathematical geometry on the canvas.2.The survey finds that the current mathematics learning situation of the high school students with art specialty is not well.In general,the problems lie on their weak basic skills in mathematics,low mathematical study enthusiasm,and bad mathematics learning habits.3.The study shows that the main reasons why these high school students' with art specialty are academically poor are as follows: the common cognition of weighting art and diminishing mathematics learning,the casualty of mathematics learning attitudes,the lack of scientific mathematics learning methods and the backward teaching concepts.To change the current mathematics learning difficulties,teachers can update the teaching concepts,innovate the teaching ways.(1)To change the concept of teaching,on the one hand,strengthening the training of the mathematical basic skills for the academically poor students are required.On the other hand,it is important to improve the training of students' learning ability by changing the cramming teaching methods.(2)Making the mathematical geometry as a primary cut-in point,the teachers should make full use of the sketch,perspective and other professional accomplishment of the students,and encourage them to draw sketch to solve the mathematical problems,which can raise their interest in the study of mathematics.(3)By creating a favorable mathematical aesthetic teaching situation,accurately grasping the aesthetic viewpoints in mathematics and constructing "appreciation of beauty-establishment of beauty" mathematical teaching model,teachers can develop the aesthetic education,meanwhile,improve the efficiency and quality of mathematics teaching.
