The Massachusetts institute of technology(MIT)in the United States has a history of more than 100 years since 1861.And the reason why it is so successful must be inseparable from its unique general education.MIT is the top university of technology in the world,so People will think that it lacks humanity.But in fact,when you get close enough to MIT,will find the humanities are excellent.At present,the general education of MIT has been widely recognized in the world,and its successful general education experience is also worth studying and discussing.As is known to all,the realization of education needs to be realized through the curriculum,general education is no exception.If you want to implement general education in universities,the study of general education curriculum is crucial.Therefore,this paper studies the general education curriculum of MIT from the following four chapters.The first chapter,from the perspective of the development of MIT humanities,expounds the development process of MIT general education.The general education of MIT goes through four stages:Embryonic stage,Exploratory stage,Development stage and consolidation stage.The second and third chapters is mainly the current general education curriculum system of MIT.The second chapter describes the general education curriculum of MIT from three aspects: the theoretical foundation,the structure of general education curriculum,the goal and content of general education curriculum.The third chapter expounds the implementation of MIT general education curriculum from the following aspects: the organizational structure,implementation requirements,implementation methods,and implementation guarantee measures.The fourth chapter is several thoughts about the general education curriculm of MIT.Firstly,the author summarizes the characteristics of MIT general education curriculum by analyzing the curriculum setting and implementation.Secondly,this paper analyzes MIT general education by sorting out and exploring the development history and current situation of MIT general education.Finally,combining with the actual situation of science and engineering universities in our country,the author puts forward some Suggestions.Through the research,gradually clear the difference between general curriculum and specialized curriculum,find the original concept is helpful to the implementation of general education inuniversity of technology.Moreover,universities of technology must highlight the humanities in their general education.
