| Scientific literacy refers to the cognitive and practical abilities of confirming scientific problems,using evidence to draw scientific conclusions,and communicating with others about the conclusions through learning relevant scientific knowledge.In today’s era of rapid development of science and technology,it is very important to be capable of certain scientific literacy even though we are not engaged in science and technology industry.The education of scientific literacy at the middle school level is the foundation and is of great significance to the cultivation of compound talents.As a basic subject natural science,physics is a solid foundation for the development of modern science & technology and economy & society,and is also one of the important subjects for cultivating the scientific literacy of citizens.However,the division of Arts and Sciences education in high school weakens the physics teaching for liberal arts students,thus bringing great challenges to the their cultivation of scientific literacy.Starting from the three perspectives of textbook,student,and classroom,this paper uses educational research methods and teaching practice activities such as observation method,questionnaire method,experiential summary method,and literature research method to explore the problems and their causes and countermeasures of liberal arts students in learning physics,and conducts practical research on how to cultivate students’ scientific literacy in the education of physics for arts in high school.The thesis is mainly divided into three parts.(1)It explores the teaching concepts contained in textbooks of physics for arts through a comparative analysis of old and new textbooks of physics for arts,thus laying a foundation for guiding the teaching practice of physics for arts.As an important tool and medium of the teaching process,textbooks contain the educational policy and concept of the national education experts,and play an important guiding role in teaching.Studies show that only when teachers fully understand the compiling intention of textbooks and keep the same teaching concept as textbooks,can they give full play of the guiding role of textbooks in teaching practice.Through comparative analysis,it is found that the new textbooks dilutes the integrity of the knowledge system,focuses on the use of practical cases of physical knowledge to make textbooks more closely related the reality of production and life,which is more conducive to cultivating the scientific literacy of liberal arts students.It further shows that corresponding flexible changes can be made according to the specific situation of the school and the students to develop school-based textbooks,and teach students in accordance of their aptitude,thus achieving better teaching results and better cultivate the scientific literacy of liberal arts students.(2)It investigates the learning status of physics of liberal arts students through questionnaires and interviews,analyzes existing problems and challenges from the aspects of school,teacher,and student,and then puts forward suggestions to improve the teaching of physics for arts.Through the investigations,it is found that learning interest,learning habits,motivation and confidence are the internal factors affecting the physics learning of liberal arts students,while abstract and difficult physics knowledge,single teaching method,pressure to enter a better university,and insufficient school’s emphasis are the external factors.It puts forward thoughts and suggestions for the current teaching of physics for arts from the aspects of macro,micro,and classroom instructional design based on the investigation and analysis results.(3)It carries out targeted teaching practices from the development of school-based textbooks,curriculum settings and classroom instructional design.Firstly,the participation in the complication of the school-based textbook “Electric Light Illuminates the Road of Humanity”.The textbook aims to promote the interest of liberal arts students in learning physics,let students know the thinking methods and beauty of physics,let them participate in interesting experiments to understand the completeness of humanistic and scientific literacy.Secondly,science lectures for liberal arts students,extracurricular physics interest experiments,aeromodeling making and other optional courses are set up under the support of the school,which improve the learning interest and participation of liberal arts students in physics.Finally,through two classroom instructional design and teaching examples,the specific thinking and suggestions for improving students’ scientific literacy in the education of physics for arts proposed in this are implemented to verify and give feedback to the actual teaching effect of these teaching strategies and methods and their effect on cultivating scientific literacy of liberal arts students. |
