With the rapid development of computer technology,especially the emergence of network technology,middle school geography teaching gradually introduced information technology as its effective auxiliary means.GIS is a new technology with strong practicability in geography science,which has unique significance for the development of geography education.Geography Curriculum Standard for General High Schools(2017 Edition)emphasizes the application of geographic information technology,which makes GIS an important tool to enrich the theory of geography education and increase the scientific nature of geography education.Since the late 20 th century put forward the application of GIS to geography teaching in middle school,scholars have paid more attention to using GIS as an auxiliary teaching tool for geography teachers.And with the renewal and popularization of GIS,the hardware and software facilities of middle school are constantly improved.Can the introduction of GIS as a tool for students' learning into geography classes be possible? How can the student actual operation GIS auxiliary study produce effect? These two issues have become an important part of people's attention.This study takes "Geography 2",a new teaching material corresponding to the 2017 edition of the new curriculum standard,as the research object,using literature research method,questionnaire survey method,case study method,experimental research method and other research methods,respectively,to the GIS assistant teaching edition of " Geography 2" teaching function and value mining;GIS assistant teaching edition of "Geography 2" teaching content analysis;the human education edition of " Geography 2" typical case design and practice research.The main research contents and conclusions are as follows:(1)First-line teachers encounter many difficulties in using GIS auxiliary teaching.The main difficulties are: teachers use GIS to assist teaching courseware making time is long,GIS software is too professional,complex operation,lack of GIS assisted teaching related cases.(2)The main teaching functions of the GIS are: vectorization function,superposition analysis function,attribute query function,thematic map making function.The teaching value lies in improving students' practical operation ability,guiding students to form comprehensive thinking of geography and strengthening students' cognition of regional geography.(3)The contents of Geography 2,which is applicable to GIS auxiliary teaching,are: static-regional geospatial elements display and dynamic-regional geospatial pattern evolution.Not applicable content is: comprehensive,difficult to quantify with geographic data or visual content.(4)GIS auxiliary geography teaching has certain advantages in improving students' achievement.operating GIS software helps to improve learning interest and concentration,and can increase interaction with teachers and create a good classroom atmosphere;to a certain extent,it can deepen students' understanding of knowledge and enhance memory.
