The younger age of overseas Chinese learners has become a common trend worldwide. It is a product of China’s development that can drive the development of other countries. It marks that overseas Chinese education has entered a new stage. At present,Thailand has the largest number of Chinese learners in primary and secondary schools in the world.Facing the trend of younger Chinese learners in Thailand,Chinese teaching in Thailand needs to adapt and change.Through the combination of literature research and inductive analysis, this paper explores the phenomenon of younger age of Chinese learners in Thailand, including the development of Chinese teaching in primary and secondary schools in Thailand, the development of Chinese schools in Thailand and the development of Confucius classrooms in Thailand. The reasons for the younger age of Chinese learners in Thailand are the rapid development of China, the assistance of Confucius Institutes, the support of Chinese education policies in Thailand and the inheritance of the mother tongue of Thai Chinese.Based on the phenomenon of young age of Chinese learners in Thailand, this paper analyzes the current situation of Chinese teaching in primary and secondary schools in Thailand from the aspects of curriculum design, teaching resources, teachers and learners. The teaching resources include the kinds of teaching materials and teaching infrastructure;Teachers include the basic information of teachers and classroom teaching;Chinese learners include the basic situation and learning characteristics of learners.Through the survey,it is found that there are problems in Chinese teaching in Thailand’s primary and secondary schools under the trend of younger age, mainly from four aspects: curriculum, textbooks, teachers and learners. The course type is single;Textbook selection is inconsistent with students’ level; The teaching level of teachers is different;Students learning initiative is not strong. In this regard, relevant strategies for Chinese teaching in Thai primary and secondary schools under the trend of younger age are proposed to improve the Chinese curriculum and develop Chinese teaching in a scientific and standardized way.Improve the teaching level of teachers, improve the teaching staff; To develop learning resources in various ways and improve students’ interest in learning; We will give full play to the role of Confucius Institutes in cultural communication and enhance Thai primary and middle school students’ understanding of Chinese language and culture.
