This paper is a study and discussion of foreign literature teaching activities in middle school language teaching materials.Taking the teaching methods of foreign literary works in the unified edition of Chinese textbooks for middle schools as the research object,this paper uses the method of comparative teaching to interpret the cultural characteristics of foreign literary works in various aspects.Foreign literary works in middle school Chinese textbooks from a foreign literary text to a foreign literary translation is not a simple conversion of two different languages,but also includes the choice and adjustment made by the translator based on the characteristics of the two languages and the similarities or differences of the two cultures.In order to analyze the translation,we must first make clear the origin of the differences between the two texts,and then compare them.Essentially,the differences in texts are caused by cultural differences in language,social psychology and expression.This is the basic perspective of translation studies and can also be used to teach foreign literary works in Chinese teaching activities in middle schools.Our teaching activities can also be based on the particularity of the object of study,using the generalized translation theories and research methods,through effective intensive reading of the text and comparison of cultural differences for specific texts.Furthermore,the teaching aim,based on cultural differences,and carring forward the excellent traditional culture,can be realized,which is placed by the new curriculum standard.Therefore,this paper is not a simple comparative study of Chinese and foreign languages in the narrow sense of translation studies.Instead,it makes use of the effective components of translation studies in the broad sense,and integrates the basic methods of translation studies in the broad sense involving cross-culture and cross-language:language contrast,comparative literature,and cultural studies into the teaching process.The thesis have three parts:introduction,text and conclusion.The introduction mainly explains the significance of foreign literary works in the textbooks compiled by the Research Department,combs the research status of foreign literary works and establishes research methods.Three chapters constitute the text.The first chapter introduces the research methods of translation studies,and discusses the feasibility of applying the research methods of translation studies to the teaching of foreign literary works through the investigation and analysis of the teaching status of foreign literary works in middle schools.The study of foreign literary works can start from the level of language,and then enter into the level of text comparison,and finally realize the interpretation of the cultural differences of the text.The second chapter is based on the analysis and theoretical basis of the current situation survey.By comparing the research contents of translation studies:language comparison,comparative literature,and cultural studies,the teaching strategies are discussed from the perspectives of translation comparison,sino-foreign comparison,multiple dialogues,and cultural interpretation.Emphasis on teachers' and students' reading of the texts themselves,and a dialogue platform is constructed to reduce students'strangeness to foreign literary works and improve students' interest in reading foreign literary works.By using the method of comparison,through the comparison between the original text and the translation,and the comparison of different designs of Chinese and English texts,students can have more opportunities to analyze and master the language skills of foreign literary works,deeply comprehend the language characteristics of the texts and learn to appreciate foreign literary works.Based on the individual differences of students,let students interpret foreign literary works from multiple perspectives,know how to combine life experience text,start thinking to interpret the text,give foreign literary works more possibilities of interpretation.The third chapter is the design case of teaching foreign literature works in middle school.The research results of the paper are presented in the form of individual teaching design,with The Road Not Taken,Of Studies,and The Old Man and the Sea as examples,involving a variety of genres such as poems,essays and novels,as well as the teaching texts,self-reading texts and the whole book,and the designs of teaching methods for various texts in the teaching materials.
