As an important part in high school mathematics teaching,teaching by examples can help students understand knowledge point vividly and provide them with a standard to imitate.In other words,paying enough attention to teaching examples can not only help students comprehend the basic knowledge such as concepts,theorems,and principles,but help cultivating a habit of thinking to work out mathematical problems.Therefore,the case study of high school mathematics example classroom teaching is significant.This paper mainly adopts the methods of literature survey,questionnaire survey,classroom observation and interview.Based on the literature review of teaching by examples in high school math teaching,this research first investigates the current situation of teaching by examples in high school math classes,finding out the existing problems.Then the author formulates a scale for classroom observation,using it to analyse the cases of teaching by examples in high school math teaching,and interviewing the teachers to have a further understanding of the teaching situation,which can find out the problems of classroom example teaching.Finally this paper will put forward relevant teaching suggestions for example teaching.The findings are as follows:(1)Through the investigation of the current situation of high school mathematics example teaching,we can find that the effect of example teaching needs to be improved.In this regard,the main problems existing in math teaching are :For teachers: They often ignore the teaching function of examples;They do not pay enough attention to the effect of examples on classroom teaching;They can not always provide students targeted guidance in learning methods;They don't pay attention to the induction and reflection after example teaching;And they think that the number and difficulty of the examples in class are moderate.For students: They haven't had a profound understanding of the examples;They think less about the example study;They think that the number of examples in class is enough,and the examples is challenging.(2)Combining the examples with the help of the scale of classroom observation with after-class interviews with teachers,this research will analyze the problems in the examples teaching.In terms of teachers' teaching: Teachers are accustomed to "cramming education”;They don't pay enough attention to infiltrating mathematical thinking methods;They don't solve the problems students meeting with in time in class;They only summarizes,or seldom do,the knowledge points involved in the topic after the examples teaching;Some of the examples explained by teachers in class are too difficult for students to comprehend.In the aspect of students' learning:Students have the habit of not previewing before class and not paying attention to reflection after class;Students don't have enough time to think about the examples in class;Students get quite a few chances to practice in class.Based on the above two studies,this paper puts forward the following suggestions for the teaching of high school mathematics examples:(1)Set up for exercises to promote learning transfer.(2)Pay attention to the choice of examples and the number of examples.(3)Example explanation respects students' different ideas,finds out students' problems in time,and gives help and guidance.
