The cooperation between schools and families is not only one of the issues left to modern education by a fast-growing society,but also an inevitable choice for education to achieve the goal of providing an overall way of raising people.The cooperation between schools and families has positive value to schools,teachers,parents and students that is hard for other educational ways and approaches to replace.However,currently,some problems existing in related researches and practices from home and abroad need to be solved desperately.On the basis of theoretical analyses,the author first tracked two typical cases of the cooperation between schools and families,which are about the communication between teachers and parents and the cooperation between schools and parents.As a result,a relatively shallow cognition has been formed on the basic content,approaches,and effects of the cooperation between schools and families currently existing in standard senior high schools.By means of self-compiled outlines,interviews have been carried out among students,teachers,and administration staff in the three senior schools in Wuxue City respectively in terms of content,approaches,frequency,effects of the cooperation between schools and families.The results of these interviews show that senior high school students act as bystanders in the cooperation between schools and families.Nearly all the teachers will contact parents actively,but compared with ordinary teachers,headteachers join in the cooperation more frequently.On the level of schools,there is a lack of regulations and supporting platforms.Parent-teacher conferences and academic reports are the most common approaches adopted in the cooperation between schools and families.Based on the results of these interviews in the above,by means of self-compiled questionnaire on the cooperation between schools and families,surveys have been conducted among the parents of senior high school students and senior high school teachers.The results indicate that the main factors that hold back parents from getting connected to schools include occupation,education background,the number of kids,the identification of guardians,whether the kids live in the school and the academic achievements of the students.Families and schools mainly keep in touch via various information groups,with the main focus on study so as to cultivate the students' good learning habits and improve their academic levels.Headteachers and male teachers are more likely to contact parents actively while limited energy is the main factor preventing teachers from joining in the cooperation between schools and families.The more frequently teachers and parents take part in the cooperation between schools and families,the more satisfaction they will get from each other.Combined with the available research results,there is an analysis of the above findings.Currently,the main problems that exist in the cooperation between schools and families among standard senior high schools can be concluded with a lack of necessary cooperative platforms and approaches.Parents are in a passive state while students perform the role of bystanders.The content of the cooperation is mainly targeted at the students' academic achievements,not at aspects such as providing valuable resources towards the development of the schools.After analysing the different reasons resulting in these problems,the following suggestions have been put forward to improve the effectiveness of the cooperation between schools and families in standard senior high schools.First,on society level,policies should be reinforced to guide the cooperation between schools and families and related advertising and education are to be strengthened.At the same time,society and communities should be encouraged to take part in school education.Second,on the school level,traditional educational concepts should be changed.Regulations should be made on the cooperation between schools and families and platforms are to be set up.Education towards parents should be strengthened,and students are supposed to be the main part in the cooperation between schools and families.Third,on the family level,parents should actively cooperate with schools and teachers to conduct the cooperation between schools and families,thus becoming learners,participants and supporters in the cooperation between schools and families.The cooperation between schools and families is not only one of the important issues faced by educational reforms in every country all over the world,but also an inevitable trend in the development of school education.Only when comprehensive measures are taken to effectively improve the quality of the cooperation between schools and families can we move with the times and fulfill the task of educating qualified students.
