School-based curriculum development has been the focus of the reform of curriculum,even the reform of education in recent years.It is always a heated topic in today’s education how teachers,as the developer and implementer of school-based curriculum,promote their professional development in the process of school-based curriculum development.School-based curriculum,teacher-oriented,is often developed depending on the different situation of each school,on condition that national curriculum and local curriculum are run properly.School-based curriculum stresses the academic autonomy of teachers in primary and middle school in the process of developing curriculum,which brings a better opportunity for teachers’ professional development.Meanwhile,it also poses a great challenge to teachers,especially those in senior high schools.Education in senior high school is different from that in primary and junior high school.Teachers in senior high school always take on heavy teaching jobs and are burdened with great pressure.This thesis demonstrates the impacts of school-based curriculum development on the professional development of senior high school teachers through theoretical and empirical research,hopefully offering some reference and guidance in the promotion of teachers’ professional development in coming years.By adopting documentary study,questionnaire investigation and semi-construction interviews,the thesis summarizes theoretical research concerned,presents the questionnaire and analyzes the impacts of school-based curriculum development on the professional development of senior high school teachers.According to the research,it explores some strategies to promote the professional development of senior high school teachers in the process of school-based curriculum development.As it concludes,school-based curriculum development has a positive impact on the professional development of senior high school teachers.They meet with some difficulties such as lack of time and incentive system and suffering great pressure,etc.Based on these difficulties,some assistance might be needed,like the guidance from curriculum experts and watching model classes,etc.Educational departments,schools and teachers themselves are supposed to work together to promote teachers’ professional development in the process of developing school-based curriculum.
