School-based curriculum and teachers' professional development have been the focus of the new-round basic education curriculum reform in China. Based on the review of school-based curriculum development and related theories, the issue of how it influences teachers' professional development is discussed in this thesis.The first part: The literature review of former studies is conducted and the result shows that teachers' professional qualities include their professional concept, motivation, attitude, needs, knowledge, capability, and so on. It is the discussion structure of the whole passage.The second part: The definition of school-based course development in this thesis is proposed. By discussion of the developing history of school-based curriculum development and tracing its theory sources, the links between it and teachers' professional development is found. This becomes the necessary base of the following part of the thesis.The third part: This is the main body of the whole passage. From the policy and individual teacher levels, the detailed analysis is conducted.The last part: Several important factors which can promote teachers' professional development in the process of school-based curriculum development are proposed in this part. They are in-service training, partnership, student-participation, and school-culture and so on.
