The physical health of contemporary college students is the focus of attention at universities and even at the national level, and the key to improving this problem lies in how to improve the exercise level of college students.A large number of research studies have found that even though college students know that long-term and regular exercise can effectively enhance physical fitness, they are reluctant to put exercise into practice. In this study,in order to open the pathway of intention-behavior relationship,we optimized the dimensionality of the planned behavior model according to the existing theories, and verified the applicability of the model for predicting college students'extracurricular badminton exercise behavior;we used action plan and coping plan as the bridge of intention-behavior relationship, and verified its mediating and moderating effects;finally,we verified the emergent beliefs to clarify the interventions. In this study,a questionnaire survey was conducted on 605 college students, and the scales used included the Theory of Planned Behavior Scale, the Emergent Beliefs Scale, the Planning Scale, and the adapted Physical Activity Rating Scale.First, the study used a competitive model to optimize the structure of the TPB and added interaction terms to improve the predictive validity of the behaviors;subsequently, the mediating and moderating effects of action plans and coping plans were examined;finally,PLS-SEM analysis was conducted to verify the significance of emergent beliefs in order to find the key factors influencing the participation behaviors of college students in extracurricular badminton. The results of the study showed that.1)The integrated TPB model with the inclusion of self-efficacy×intention interaction term was able to predict college students'extracurricular badminton participation behavior well(R~2=0.543).2)The mediating effect of plan in the intention-behavior relationship was not significant, but it was able to moderate the intention-behavior relationship.Among them, action plans promote the intention-behavior transformation process, while coping plans play a suppressive role.(3)The original hypotheses of the theory of planned behavior containing emergent beliefs all hold, with enhanced mental strength/fitness,direct involvement of friends/peers in badminton activities, and lack of sports facilities being the observations with the largest regression coefficients in action beliefs, normative beliefs, and control beliefs, respectively. Therefore, the study suggests that when intervening in college students'badminton and even small ball sports participation behaviors,self-efficacy and the applicability of action plans can be prioritized, and targeted interventions can be designed with reference to the emergent beliefs affecting college students'extracurricular sports in this survey.
