| Chinese ancient poems are glorious and resplendent,filled with romance and passion of Chinese ancestors.Chinese ancient poems cover a large proportion in Chinese coursebooks,whose civilizing influence has long been emphasized in Chinese teaching of all levels.Amongst them the edition by the Ministry of Education of China(the MoE edition)(2016)for junior high schools presents innovations in Chinese ancient poems selection.However,a part of teachers fail to notice the changes or comprehend the beliefs underlying the selection on the components of the Chinese ancient poems section,although such edition has been applied in practical teaching for more than three years.Therefore,this dissertation,focusing on the selection of Chinese ancient poems and their format and arrangement in the MoE edition,aims to analyze its educational value and to provide some suggestions and implications on using such coursebooks as teaching materials in Chinese ancient poems teaching.The components of this dissertation are as follows:The introduction part mainly illustrates the topic background,the significance of this research and its methodology.It also has a systemic literature review on the selection and teaching of Chinese ancient poems in Chinese coursebooks for junior high schools.The first chapter is to analyze the arrangement features of Chinese ancient poems in coursebooks of the MoE edition for junior high schools,mainly focusing on four fa ctors.These include: blended arrangement and dispersed arrangement,“two parallel li nes” in unit construction,acquisition in order of difficulty,and combination of editor-selected poems and non-selected poems.The second chapter presents analysis of selected poems in the MoE edition and d escriptions on features of poems selection,scaffolding in reading and exercises in deta il based on the comparisons and contrasts on the MoE edition and the PEP edition.The next chapter is to elucidate educational values of Chinese ancient poems for junior high school students on the aspect of culture,language and aesthetics,and to have a clear illustration on teaching objects based on the analysis on the content of Chinese ancient poems in the MoE edition.Such objects include to build confidence in culture,to guide students to appreciate Chinese ancient poems through reading aloud,to increase the learning input through combination of curriculum teaching and extra-curriculum learning and to improve the system for assisted and autonomous learning.The final chapter is on the suggestions on teaching Chinese ancient poems in the MoE edition.These include: to find the cultural quintessence underlying in Chinese ancient poems,to raise awareness in outstanding traditional cultural inheritance;to distinguish classes with diverse objectives,to combine selected and non-selected poems in teaching;to help students notice,comprehend and acquire rhythms and feel the feelings of poets;to use the scaffolding elements in units comprehensively and to motivate students to be responsible for their own learning. |
