Textbooks are the materials for teachers and students to carry out teaching activities.Based on the PEP senior high school Chinese textbooks,the Unified Edition of senior high school Chinese textbooks is compiled to be the “upright innovation” of the old version.While the Unified Edition has remained the advantages of the PEP Edition,it also revised the original one.This paper takes 26 identical texts jointly selected in both the Unified Edition,which has already been put into use in the year of 2019,and the PEP Edition as the object of study,and explores the differences and connections between the old and the new version,aiming to help teachers better understand the new one and use it well so as to put the concept of the new Unified Edition into practice,and improve students' language literacy.This paper consists of four chapters.The first chapter mainly elaborates the origin,the current conditions,the significance and the research method of this topic.In the second chapter,the theoretical basis of compiling the Unified Version is presented with its focus on the functions and values of Chinese language textbooks as well as their compiling requirements and basis.The third chapter,through the same texts of these two editions of textbooks,adopts the method of "seeking differences in the same" to analyze the distribution of selected articles from the whole,and analyze the differences in text,annotations,illustrations and exercises of selected articles in detail and then explain the reasons for these differences,which are mainly due to the differences in the version chosen,writing concepts,learning requirements,and writing standards.The fourth chapter evaluates the strengths and weaknesses of the two editions in the treatment of the same texts,and proposes pedagogical suggestions to pay attention to the differences of the same texts while advocating the use of the different content for teaching.The Unified Edition textbooks is good at drawing on the best achievements of other editions,paying more attention to details,and being more targeted and practical,but it is overly annotated,does not pay attention to the connection with junior high school textbooks,and replaces language tasting with activities,resulting in fewer language appreciating questions.The PEP textbook pays attaches importance to the appreciation of language,the accumulation of basic knowledge and the presentation of extra-curricular reading materials,but the illustrations are not reasonably designed,and the reading and writing are separated from each other.Each treatment of the same articles in the two editions of textbooks has their own merits and demerits,so when teaching the new textbooks,teachers should be good at exploring the valuable differences,taking advantages of them and turning the differences into unique teaching resources.
