In recent years, basic education in China has developed rapidly. With the deepening of urbanization, the level of city primary school in facilities and teachers has been improved. However, the rural areas have been developing slowly compared with urban areas due to economic and geographical factors. With the release of the Rural Teacher Support Plan(2015-2020),Chinese rural education has made some achievements in improving teacher security and educational resources, and the development of rural teachers has become a key issue. In order to develop rural education in China and promote the implementation of new curriculum reform in rural schools,it is a key step to improve rural primary school teachers. Therefore,it is necessary to deeply understand the difficulties of rural primary school teachers' professional growth process and the reasons behind them, and put forward relevant countermeasures. This study takes rural primary school mathematics teachers in Y Town,F City as the research object, investigates teachers' professional concepts and ethics, knowledge and ability as well as teachers' participation in training through questionnaire, interview and observation methods. The survey found that rural primary school mathematics teachers have good ethics. From the perspective of professional knowledge, rural primary school mathematics teachers have a good grasp of primary school mathematics knowledge, but they are not proficient in multi-disciplinary knowledge.Secondly, their understanding of education and teaching knowledge, interpretation of mathematics curriculum standards and application of information technology need to be strengthened. In terms of professional competence, rural primary school mathematics teachers have good evaluation and communication skills, but are not active enough in paper publishing and writing,self-reflection and planning, which need to be improved. The reasons for the predicament are also related to training divorced from reality, low salary of teachers, heavy non-teaching tasks and traditional rural culture. In view of the difficulties, relevant suggestions are put forward from the government, schools and teachers. The government should increase investment in rural education and implement relevant welfare policies and the training should be targeted and effective.Rural schools should reduce unnecessary repetitive work and establish information platforms for teachers to improve their professional abilities.Teachers should update education concept independently, learn to reflect and plan, and take the initiative to grow in action research.
